The Hawthorne Lounge - HELLIONS!!!

Cassandra: The Manager has her favorite patrons, and she treats them right... ;)

< Simon laughed as he felt Cassandra's foot nudge her from under the table. She seemed to finally be warming up to him. This was a good sign. But before he could manage a response, suddenly the entire hotel seemed to go dark. Part of him thought this might be a move by Cassandra. Nobody who stayed at The Hawthorne Hotel was ever usually human. Maybe she was a witch and she had telekinetically cut the lights off so that she could make her move. :p >

"Well..this is certainly an interesting turn of events..."

< Soon several enchanted candles throughout the hotel began to flicker with a soft and magickal looking flame. Simon half smiled to himself, partly nervous that something bad was about to happen and partly because no matter what the situation he had a hard time acting appropriately. He spoke to Cass in the pitch black. >

"You know, you don't have to go through all of this just to seduce me, Cassandra. Don't tell anyone, but i'm FAR easier than that.."

< His joke would fall on DEAF ears as an EXPLOSION of black flame began to THROTTLE the hotel's very foundation! >

"What the HELL?!"

< The environment in the Lounge went from peaceful and relaxing to one of ABSOLUTE brutal VIOLENCE and FEAR as dozens of HELLIONS began to flood the hotel from all directions, heading to the "tastiest" of areas in the hotel. The LOUNGE. They barreled through from all sides with a hunger for blood and a depravity that was unmatched. As a product of his abilities, instinctively he began to dodge and weave out of the line of fire with incredible accuracy as the Hellions began attacking and brutally ripping apart the partrons of the Hawthorne Lounge. Simon had NEVER experienced violence like this. He came from a very affluential family in one of the most EXCLUSIVE neighborhood in the country. The scariest thing HE had ever seen in his life up until this point was the inside of a Walmart in Miami. That was enough for him. He focused his efforts on finding SOMETHING to help him out. Small green flickers of energy began to flicker around his eyes as he was able to make out the floor plan of the Lounge against the darkness. On the wall he noticed a Knights display. Two long blade swords crossing each other in an "X" pattern behind an ornate and old looking shield. >

"Bingo...but how to GET it off the wall in the midst of all THIS?!"

< Simon was an EXPERT level fencer as well as archer. Growing up in the household that he grew up in, traditional sports such as Football or Baseball were simply not important. Intellectual pursuits and sports of a higher caliber were expecting. He spent his years at prep school on the FENCING and ARCHERY team, eventually becoming a NATIONALLY recognized champion of BOTH. Though looking back, he had no idea that he would be attempting one of these feats against hell beast BENT on sucking his blood. >

< Unfortunately as soon as Simon attempted to lunge forward and attempt to grab one of the swords, he felt the INCREDIBLE pain and sting of a Hellion's sharp and numerous demon like teeth. >

"AAAAHGGGHH!!!!"

< He had been caught off guard which was a RARE occurence from the mutant. Adrenaline kicked in as he shifted his weight and crouched down, bracing one of his feet forward as he grabbed the ARM of the Hellion, noticing the two that were lunging forward at the smell of his blood. With quick movements and his probability powers acting subconsciously to instinctively guide his movements, he FLIPPED the Hellion over his shoulder and flung him into the two that were gaining ground. >

"Yes!!!"

< Simon indulged in his victory for only a second as he ran forward, jumping into the air, letting his abilities guide him as his feet hit the back of one of the Hellions and he began to walk up it, before JUMPING off and retrieving one of the swords on the display, rolling forward on the ground before RISING up again. This time feeling a lot more confident. >

"Alright, gentlemen...I believe the battlefield is effectively.. leveled...En guarde!"

Cassandra: Simon, where ya at?!

< He looked up for a moment to see Cassandra hovering in the air encased in a dome of some unknown energy. He was relieved to see that she was in fact alive. >

"Right here, love! Glad to see that you're okay..but your efforts MIGHT be better spent KILLING some of these creatures. We've got to find a way out of here!"

< With his attention focused on Cassandra, he was unaware of the Hellion onslaught that he was about to face as one of them LATCHED on to his neck and Simon SCREAMED out in pain. >

"AAAHHH!!!! Buy...a..fellow a DRINK FIRST!"

< Simon executed an elbow to the stomach of one of the Hellions as he brought his left hand up, the hand he held his sword in, lifting it high, before bring the handle down on his head with great speed, knocking him down. The unfortunate part about Simon was that he was not fully trained in his abilities and for the most part they acted subconsciously beyond his control, allowing his reflexes and movements to be guided by his "luck". That being said, this ability to seemlessly always manage to end up on the RIGHT side of the blade had made Simon an incredibly CONFIDENT and self assured person, and THIS would aid him. He lunged forward with his blade in furious motion as the blade became surrounded by a subtle green "aura" of energy, indicated that it was now in fact under the thrall of his abilities. With incredibly fast movements and STELLAR reactions on Simon's part, he began to make his way through the room of Hellion, dispatching them at every turn. His movements were fluid, almost like a dance as he moved through them, chopping a head off, swinging his blade high and then DEEP into the chests of his victim. He was trying to give him and Cassandra an opening to GET the HELL out of here, but if they were going to make it, Cassandra would HAVE to help. His abilities would only carry him so far and if he was caught off guard, even for a MOMENT? It could mean SUDDEN and BRUTAL death. >

The Battle Continues...

A quiet night in had turned into a night of TERROR and FEAR as The Hellions continued to swarm The Hawthorne Hotel. Eating and consuming many of the patrons in the Lounge, Cassandra and Simon managed to fight off the first wave. But the appearance of these Hellions DIDN'T seem to be slowing...for every Hellion that Simon sliced into a killed, there were THREE more.

As Cassandra lay levitating above the carnage and protected by her PSI Shield, she couldn't help but notice that the bright display from her PSI Shield seemed to be ATTRACTING the other Hellions. They were DRAWN to her by the light her shield was emanating. Soon several Hellions began to PAW at her shield. While her SHIELD was strong...all of this pawing and CLAWING began to effectively THROTTLE her concentration. It was as if the Hellions paid NO attention to the mental anguish they experienced every time they tried to penetrate her shield. They were INSATIABLE in their desire for blood and Witchfire had compelled them to attack until EVERYBODY was dead. They WOULD not stop.

SOON.. After an overwhelming display of power from the Hellions, they managed to throw Cassandra off balance so much that her shield dissipated and she fell promptly to the GROUND as FOUR Hellions began to descend on her..ready to feed on her DELICIOUS blood.

Simon was making a valiant effort to CLAMMER through the Hellions but soon, he was overwhelmed and caught off guard as a Hellion THROTTLED him and thew him in the air, knocking him to the back corner of The Lounge. He was cornered. With all the blood in the air, The Hellions were acting like SHARKS in the WATER and quickly threw themself at him at ALL angles.

Things were looking GRIM for Cass and Simon, and unless they could find a way out, they would SOON succumb to the wounds of battle and the Hellions need to quench their APPETITE!

Meanwhile in the Catacombs below the Hotel...

Vivica and Rebecca were running at an altogether frantic pace. Zipping and weaving through long hallways as they could hear the snarls and cries of the Hellions who had SOMEHOW found their way into the catacombs.

Rebecca: We have to keep going Vivica, we aren't very far from the Ex--AAHHHH!!!

All at once, as the two rounded the corner they were met with the overwhelming forces of the Hellions. They attacked Rebecca outright, knowing that the blood of a witch was the sweetest of all and they tried to FEED on her.

Vivica's EYES widened in disbelief before she swung into action.

"Rebecca!!!!"

The mutant's ability of photographic reflexes had allowed her to remember AND utlize any physical ability or attribute that she had seen. And thankfully for Vivica...every night before bed, she made SURE to watch old UFC and WWE fights on YouTube. A single girl in the big city couldn't afford to leave any box "unchecked" and with a fury and rage uncharacteristic for the human computer she sprung into action, unleashing a FLURRY of physical attacks on the Hellions surrounding Rebecca. Perfectly executed uppercuts, body slams and flying sidekicks all around. Within minutes, Rebecca went from fearing death to looking around her...finding several Hellions in various state of dismemberment around her. Rebecca had never really seen Vivica "in action" and the sight proved to her that the mutant was MORE than capable of protecting herself in others.

Rebecca: Come! Vivica! We have no time! We MUST GO!

Rebecca sprung to her feet, grabbing Vivica's hand as they began to run down the various halls and wings of the Catacombs, inching ever closer to it's exit.

And So We Watch...

Hawthorne Lounge - Ninth Circle of Hell[ion]

"Right here, love! Glad to see that you're okay..but your efforts MIGHT be better spent KILLING some of these creatures. We've got to find a way out of here!"

:: Cass looked down and sighed with relief. Simon was okay. And, judging by a greenish glow, he was a mutant too. She opened her purse that was still hanging on her and brought out her Jimmy Choo flats she kept in there in case her feet got tired of dancing and for driving [there was an incident where she foolishly destroyed a pair of her Louboutins while driving, but that's a story for another time]. But, Cass soon discovered that she should've been paying attention sooner. The hellions acted like they were ATTRACTED to the light. Unlike the moth's relationship to a flame, these creatures did NOT die. Rather, they kept pawing and clawing at it, seemingly not caring about the mental anguish. This broke Cass' concentration and she dropped down to the ground where four of them all descended upon her! She did the only thing she could think of...and prayed that it would work. She LEVITATED again only and then she quickly turned in a circle with one leg out, KICKING all four hellions in the NECKS, decapitating them. ::

*sharply*: "THAT'S for Melody!" *bellows*: "WHO'S NEXT?"

:: She picked up a chair and threw it down on the ground, breaking off a leg. She turned to her left and noticed one climbing over the booth and underneath the table. THAT gave her an idea. She used her energy to make the table wrap around the hell beast and then she made the table make the hellion "dance". She then took another swing at one coming at her from the back that she had spotted out of the corner of her eye. ::

:: On and on they went, dispatching hellions left, right, and center. LITERALLY. As a hellion stood in her pathway with hands out to grab her, she used the chair leg as a BATTERING RAM and drove it deep into the hellion, instantly turning him to dust. Another one took its place and she used the chair leg as a bat to one's head and it was a home run for her as she hit the head clear across the room. ::

Take THAT you fiends!

"Simon! We need to get to Rebecca! Then we can all band together. Strength in numbers and all that..."

:: Without warning, she jumped from where she was facing the entryway to where she was now facing the back. One hellion was a few steps away from her and beyond that, she spotted a cluster of them following their friend. So she took the chair leg and SMOKED it into the hellion's stomach, sending him FLYING BACKWARDS into the cluster. Because of the strength of her swinging, as soon as the hellion landed in the midst of his friends, they all fell, no, more like EXPLODED, into pieces much like bowling pins do when you bowl. It was a STRIKE for her. ::

"Okay, I have had ENOUGH!"

:: She created more energy until she had energy 'snakes'. The snakes then moved over several hellions' feet, knocking them down, and then she grabbed hold of the snakes and SWUNG all SEVEN of them around and around before letting go and sent them flying through the window. ::

:: She could see Simon up ahead dispatching MORE hell beasts but, for right now, at least, Cass had already eliminated those hellions who were around her. There wasn't anymore. She hurried to catch up to Simon. She wanted to team up with Rebecca. SHE would know what to do. She grabbed a heavy candlestick as she passed by a table. She would be able to use that somehow. ::

A Way Out!

< Simon was in his zone. Wielding his sword, he was cutting through the Hellions left and right, noticing that their hunger for blood didn't seem to follow any specific rules. As they were falling down, other Hellions began to canabilize each other, driven mad by their unquenchable THIRST. Just as he was gaining ground and making his way towards the lobby. But one small glance back at Cassandra, one moment where he WASN'T focusing on the task at hand and he was bamboozled. A Hellion grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, lifted him HIGH in the air and THREW him as he catapulted back, crashing into the grand piano by the stage with incredible force. His head throbbed in pain. >

"This is just yet another expample of how important good breeding is..."

< Thankfully being behind the large piano provided somewhat of a reprieve from the onslaught as he was watched Cassandra dispatching Hellions left and right with whatever she could get her hands on. He had to say that he was impressed. She was beautiful and aggressive. He rose to his feet, and leaned back against the wall, accidentally knocking his head on the light fixture behind him. >

"Oh Goddammit!"

< He winced and grabbed his head. However, in knocking into the fixture, it became off kilter and turned to the right. Simon had unknowing pulled the level to one of the many secret trap doors throughout the hotel. The entire wall began to move in on itself before sliding to the right, revealing a dark and ominous staircase. The mutant sighed with relief as he called out to Cassandra. >

"CASS! Get OVER here! I found our way out!"

< She had to move fast as they were the soul survivors in the lounge, and with all of their wounds, they were like BACON to the Hellions as they began to slowly become aware of Simon and lunged forward. >

"I can try to hold them off, but I'm not going to be able to keep this UP!"

< Simon tried to focus. Cameron had given him some mental training in an attempt to allow Simon to be able to consciously control the energy he was able to manipulate. He breathed in heavily, focusing his thoughts on clearing out this room and getting Cass over here safely. In his right hand, an orb of dark red energy began to form and grow in size until it was around the size of a basketball. This ball was psionically composed of "bad" luck. His first attempt at manifesting the kind of luck he needed and making it material. The energy seemed to swirl around his arm. >

"Well..here goes... SOMETHING..."

< He threw his hand at all the energy orb barrelled through the air RIPPING through Hellions as it went, nearly acting like a heat seeking missile on a specific path. It ripped through the area causing tables to snap and random chair' legs to break. Every Hellion that came into contact with the orb, lost an arm or a head or SOMETHING in the process as it continued to circle the horde before BLASTING into a wall and dissipating. NOW there was a VERY open path from Cass and Simon. But for how long? >

Into The Catacombs...

<< Simon and Cassandra were doing their best to dispatch The Hellions and thanks to a well timed accident, Simon had inadvertanly open a secret door in the Lounge that would lead them down to The Catacombs and HOPEFULLY to find Rebecca and Vivica who were busy fighting for their lives as well. >>

<< Thankfully Cassandra made her way to Simon and the two escaped down the stairwell...unfortunately, the DOOR remained open, and soon..following the scent of blood, they would make their way DOWN to The Catacombs as WELL. >>

<< As the two new friends whirled down a never-ending series of halls and staircases at a RAPID pace.. they were caught off GUARD as they rounded a corner and nearly crashed RIGHT into Vivica and Rebecca who were running as well. >>

<< For a moment, there is a calm in the storm, allowing Rebecca to tend to Cassanra and Simon's wounds and to do a little bit of explaining as to what was happening at hotel. Their conversation would be SHORT lived as hordes of Hellions began to make their way down the stairs and into the Catacombs. >>

<< AND SO... we WATCH. >>

Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

- The Catacombs of The Hawthorne Hotel were expansive and very confusing, almost as if they were designed to confuse anyone that might be trapped in them. Thankfully, Vivica was with the woman who's family had BUILT the system and she had spent years navigating the area. THAT allowed Vivica to feel somewhat relieved. However, she was carrying with her an athame that a dangerous Demon Witch was looking for, and if she couldn't get out of the hotel and back to Buckley's, not to MENTION find a way to get the items out of her possession and BACK to Almora's tomb and NOW? The entire world might be doomed. -

- The duo moved fast, Vivica following Rebecca's movements, all the while in her head, calculating and remembering every detail about what she was seeing, thinking, feeling and smelling. If she were to ever be in the Catacombs again? She would be able to get out of them BLINDFOLDED. Rebecca was out of breath and tired and yet she still led the way.

Rebecca: We aren't far now, Vivica. Once we get out in the open, we will be able to get the HELL out of here ALOT easier. And don't think i'm not billing you for the destruction of my Lobby and Lounge..bringing a whole fury of HELL with you!

- Vivica rolled her eyes. Even in the most dire of situations, Rebecca managed to be catty and somewhat lighthearted. She responded as they continued to run. -

"Well... Girl..If you get me the HELL out of here with my limbs still in tact..i'll make the call to the contractor MYSELF!"

- As Vivica and Rebecca rounded the CORNER, they nearly smacked into a VERY battle worn looking Simon and Cassandra. Thankfully, Vivica's reflexes allowed her to stop herself and Rebecca just before the moment of impact. Vivica was immediately defensive, where as Rebecca seemed to soften at their appearance. She grabbed both of them and hugged them tightly. -

Rebecca: Oh my GODDESS! Cassandra! I'm so glad you're okay! I'm sorry dear.. Rest assured your visit is most certainly COMPED.... <<looking at Simon >> And who expected Little Boy Blue to be here! Oh, you annoy the hell out of me but i'm so glad to KNOW your alive!

She motioned them all to take a seat for a moment.

Rebecca: We don't have much time.. I can sense the little bastards are tracking us..but if I can heal those wounds, they won't know where to find us... Now sit for a second...

- Vivica sat down only for a moment, before she pulled her phone out of her bra (big boob girl secret) and shot of a text to a dear friend of hers.. one of the ONLY people who might possibly be able to HELP her with what she would need to do. -

"Hey A. It's V..I am in a serious predicament.. I need your help. Please meet me at our rendezvous point in 30 minutes.. EMERGENCY..."

- She was a little irritated. -

"Okay, not to sound ungrateful...but have ya'll forgotten we are being chased by demonic hell beasts? We need to get out of here! I don't know if you have ever seen many horror movies... but Black Girls like ME don't tend to FAIR WELL in these type of situations, and I ain't about to be a stereotype!"

- Rebecca scoffed at her and let out a laugh. -

Rebecca: "Really, Vivica. Calm down..."

- As Rebecca began to magickally heal the bite marks and scratches from the Hellions that seemed to COVER their bodies, Simon and Cassandra had a chance to ask some questions and figure out just what the hell was going on. -

Hawthorne Hotel - Catacombs

:: Cass had almost caught up with Simon when he looked back to see where she was. THAT costed him as one of the hell beasts promptly picked the guy up and THREW him across the room and over the piano. ::

HONESTLY.

:: She sighed and BANGED a hellion on the head with the hefty candlestick, instantly turning it into a pile of bone fragments and dust. She made quick use of the candlestick as TWO more hellions creeped up on her. She heard Simon call to her. ::

Simon said:
"CASS! Get OVER here! I found our way out! I can try to hold them off, but I'm not going to be able to keep this UP!"

:: She looked over at Simon only to see a burst of red energy BULLDOZE its way through the Lounge, instantly frying the hell beasts. Cass took the cue and ran over to Simon. ::

"Thanks, partner."

:: She held up her hand and Simon slapped it gleefully. Then they both made their way down the steps leading to...somewhere. But Cass hoped that 'somewhere' lead to safety, as well as Rebecca. Not only would she know what to do, but she could also change a person's outfit with one glance and the dress that Cass was currently wearing? It was not appropriate for the hellion apocalypse. ::

:: They both ducked through the secret doorway and went down the staircase. They went one way, only to find themselves at a dead end. So they retraced their steps and went another way down a corrider then turned sharply left...and almost ran into REBECCA and her friend. Rebecca hugged them both tightly.

Rebecca Hawthorne said:
Oh my GODDESS! Cassandra! I'm so glad you're okay! I'm sorry dear.. Rest assured your visit is most certainly COMPED.... <<looking at Simon >> And who expected Little Boy Blue to be here! Oh, you annoy the hell out of me but i'm so glad to KNOW your alive!

:: Cass smiled weakly. ::

"Think nothing of it. In a weird way, I'm enjoying myself. However,"

:: She glanced down at her dress. ::

"This dress is NOT made for surviving the hell beast apocalypse..."

Rebecca: *laughs*: "Of course, my dear! Your wish is my command, Cinderella!"

:: She just LOOKED at Cass, and Cass soon was wearing another outfit, one that COULD stand up to all of HELL. Cass smiled gratefully. ::

"Thank you so much!"

:: Rebecca then began to use her magick to heal both Cass and Simon. ::

"So, Rebecca, why ARE there hell beasts trashing your hotel?"

Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

< This was not how Simon had planned on spending his evening. He had PLANNED on gaining an audience with Rebecca and delivering a pitch so perfect that she'd not only sign over the hotel to The Zenith Group and formally comp his stay. He also had planned on romancing the dark haired innocent looking beauty in the lounge and take her back to his suite for a night of debauchery and indulgence, filled with expensive champagne, and an array of fruit and other nighttime delicacies. Instead, he was running for his life with said dark haired beauty, trying to avoid being devoured completely by terrifying beasts that could only be straight from HELL. >

"You win some you lose some.. I guess..."

< Simon and Cass began to feverishly make their way the labyrnth of the catacombs, not taking even a second to look back as they had both figured out by then that not focusing on the task at hand usually resulting in the painful BITE from a Hellion. They moved forward. >

"I'm starting to regret extending my stay in San Francisco..I could be sipping expresso and listening to Franz Joseph Haydn from the comfort of my home right now..."

< Soon, the two found themselves very...LOST. The halls and stairwells never seemed to end and just when it seemed absolutely HOPELESS, they ran DEAD SMACK into Rebecca and an unknown mysterious woman. >

Rebecca: And who would have thought 'Little Boy Blue' would be here! Oh, you annoy the hell out of me, but I'm so glad to know you're ALIVE!

< The woman embraced him in a warm and encompassing hug as she began to tend to their wounds. Cassandra jumped the gun for him as she asked just exactly what was going on. >

"I'd like to know myself, Rebecca..those things sure know how to ruin a good Porterhouse..."

< He stared at Vivica, eyeing her up and down. >

"And you... who are you?"

- Rebecca used her healing magicks to tend to the wounds of Simon and Cassandra before taking a seat and conjuring a set of water bottles for each of them. Vivica gave her a concerned look -

Rebecca: WHAT? I'm thirsty! Is that a PROBLEM?!

- Vivica gave a dissapproving sigh as she knelt by the group, checking her phone to see if she had any messages. There were none. -

Cass: So Rebecca, why ARE there hell beasts trashing your hotel?

Simon: I'd like to know myself, Rebecca..those things sure know how to ruin a good Porterhouse..and you...who are you?

- Vivica cocked a dissapproving eyebrow as she stood to her feet, grabbing a bottle of water, unscrewing the top and took a nice long drink. -

"Well...you have about the charm of a USED Car Salesman..Here's hoping the Hellions tear you apart! Cheers!"

- Taking another drink from her water bottle. -

"But I digress. I'm afraid.. I'M the reason for the attack.. My name is Vivica Lennox... I'm an appraiser at an Auction House here in town that somewhat specializes in the mystical and arcane...I had just gotten a shipment of items that once belonged to an Ancient Gypsy woman named Almora...they were her altar tools. Legend has it that Almora was buried with these tools and enacted a CURSE.. If someone were to obtain the necessary items they could ignite a SPELL that would enact REVENGE on the ancestors that burned the Gypsy Witch at the stake. This curse is nearly half a century old..and this curse now? If it's fulfilled..could kill MILLIONS..."

- She placed the water bottle down at her side and glanced away for a moment. -

"I brought Rebecca The Athame of Almora to get a little more information.."

- Vivica pulled the ornate and magickally imbued dagger from her purse to show the others. -

"Turns out... there is some Demon Witch hellbent on acquiring the items and enacting the CURSE... hoping to harness it's power into taking over the Underworld...."

- Rebecca stood. -

Rebecca: And those "monsters" are "Hellions"... they are minions of the Demon "Witchfire".. she's an absolutely insane woman who NORMALLY spends her time torturing the souls of men who have cheated or committed other crimes against women...If she wasn't so insane and power hungry, I'd commend her. I say 'kill the killers'...but if she GETS all of those items...

- The witch threw her hands up into the air. -

Rebecca: Well... I just don't want to think about it...

:: Cass nodded slowly. She sort of understood the gist of it, but not really. ::

*stupidly*: "Okay, so, if there's a curse, why even bother bringing it AT ALL? Wouldn't it be best to just keep the thing in a safe spot so it can be returned to Almora later on?"

Rebecca: "And those "monsters" are "Hellions"... they are minions of the Demon "Witchfire".. she's an absolutely insane woman who NORMALLY spends her time torturing the souls of men who have cheated or committed other crimes against women...If she wasn't so insane and power hungry, I'd commend her. :: Cass could appreciate exacting revenge on those who committed nasty crimes against women. And if she were any other woman, she MIGHT be so inclined to ASK Witchfire for assistance with her ex-boyfriend. But she was Cassandra and she WASN'T anybody else. Because the truth was that she still loved her ex, despite him putting her through HELL, and she probably always would love him. She glanced at Simon out of the corner of her eye. Maybe he could help her get over him. MAYBE. Maybe not. All she knew at this moment was that as soon as this shit was over, she'd take Simon away for some "alone time". :garrick: She DESERVED it after all, with what was currently happening and what Sharon and Cameron had put her through. ;) But going back to the dagger... ::

"I know people who know places where things can be kept safe. Places that exist only in another realm or dimension or what have you. Places that will certainly keep things safe from the forces of this world."

:: She looked at her comrades. ::

*hopefully*: "Maybe it will be safe until we get it BACK to Almora...?"

Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

- Vivica eyed Cassandra as she spoke...and she was unimpressed. She spoke to the succubus in a dismissive tone. -

"The curse IS it's power...If the CURSE comes..anybody who is blood related in the SLIGHTEST to the people who burned Almora at the stake will be tortured..will be destroyed by plague..or by FIRE. Millions of innocent people will die... I don't know about you but i'm thinking if I'm bidding for a spot in Underworld ROYALTY... harnessing the power of a 1,000 year old witch and bringing a plague upon the Earth that will kill millions of innocent people is a pretty big bargainning chip. Do yourself a favor girl, and try to KEEP up."

- Cassandra continued. -

Rebecca: "I know people who know places where things can be kept safe. Places that exist only in another realm or dimension or what have you. Places that will certainly keep things safe from the forces of this world. Maybe it will be safe until we get it BACK to Almora...

- Vivica rolled her eyes. -

"Listen Lady Guinevere..while I appreciate your bright eyed optimism and desire to help.. why don't you go to tend to your lover boy over there and let the big girls talk...We don't have that kind of TIME if you haven't noticed, what with Hellions SWARMING the place. Our only option is STOPPING that WITCH..and from the looks of US.. We've got two teenagers just WAITING for the right moment to PAW each other, and we have a foolish old woman who'd rather stop for idle chit CHAT than GET out of here!"

[looking at Rebecca]

"Sorry Girl..."

[Rebecca laughs]

Rebecca: "Don't apologize to me. You're right.. I'm old...and TIRED."

- She turned her attention back to Cassandra. -

"Either way.. I don't know what YOUR definition of screwed is..but if it's anything OTHER than the situation we are at right now? It's delusional..."

Catacombs - Hawthorne Hotel

:: Cass narrowed her eyes at Vivica. She did NOT appreciate being talked down to...AT ALL. Her hands turned into FISTS. What she WANTED to do was to show this...VIVICA the strength and might of her power. But Vivica was right, time was of the essence. ::

BITCH! Who the hell does SHE think she is?!

*bitchily*: "You should've thought of that BEFORE you brought us all into this mess! And you think I'M idiotic?! Who in their right mind takes a cursed DAGGER to public places? Specifically a dagger that attracts the attention of an INSANE DEMON WITCH? Are you out of your mind?! At least I'm OFFERING suggestions for the mess that YOU'VE created!

:: She took a big drink of water and calmed down. ::

"This isn't working either. We have to work TOGETHER to defeat the insane witch, the hellions, AND make sure the curse doesn't unleash horrors upon horrors on innocent people. So we have to form a plan. And quick..."

:: She sat back against the wall of the catacombs. She wasn't sure if Vivica was friend or foe, but judging by the way she spoke to her, she automatically entered into the 'foe' spot. :haha: But she WAS here, and so were THEY. She trusted Rebecca, and she trusted Simon, so if THEY trusted the beautiful woman, then Cass would go along with it. She had her powers, Simon had his, and Rebecca definitely had HERS. She had no doubt that Vivica was a mutant as well, so that was good. ::

<< Rebecca watched the girls and let out an exasperated sigh as the women went back and forth. >>

"My dear sweet girls..will you do an old woman a favor and kindly SHUT THE HELL UP!"

<< The witch walked over to Simon and pinched his chin for a second, laughing >>

"Who would have thought that YOU would be the only person here to NOT get on my nerves...?

<< Turning back to the Group >>

"But, our rest period is OVER.. It's just down the hall and ---"

<< Everything went SILENT as Rebecca's EYES widened like that of a ghost and when the group followed her gaze down, she was bleeding PROFUSELY from her stomach. The cries of Witchfire's HELLIONS could be heard as all at once, Rebecca FELL to the ground in agony >>

Vivica: "REBECCA! NO!!!!"

<< The group was SWARMED yet again, this time in a VERY confined space, and with Rebecca down for the count, they were going to need to work hard to make sure the Hellions didn't EAT their friend, all the while fighting for her life. The Hellions pawed and LUNGED at Simon, Cassandra and Vivica, attempting to DRINK from their recently restored bodies and dismember them in the PROCESS! >>

Vivica: We've got to fight them AWAY from Rebecca! She will HEAL herself if we give her the time! Blondie! You take THAT way << Pointing left down the hall >> and Lady Chatterly! You take THIS direction with ME! << Pointing to the right >>

<< Vivica took a battle stance and was poised for action as she FURIOUSLY jumped into the pack of Hellions, beating them off with a serious of flawlessly executed fighting techniques, calling upon her photographic reflexes to do the ask kicking for her. >>

<< The circumstances looked DIRE as Simon and Cassandra were once again forced to fight the EVER GROWING HORDE of Hellions. They were more than outnumbered..and with Rebecca down for the count, their hope was clinging on by only a hair. Would they fight their way out? Or become just add to the body count. Only time would tell. >>

Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

The three mutants were fighting for their LIVES as the Hellions were RELENTLESS, desperately trying to get at Rebecca and drain her completely, leaving only a pile of flesh and bones.

Cassandra and Vivica worked surprisingly well together and worked in tandem. When Vivica saw the abilities that Cassandra possessed, she adjusted, using her arsenal of physical attacks to set up Ruby with the perfect opportunity to DUST any Hellions that made it past her.

Simon was working overtime, using his abilities in ways he didn't even know were possible, and the benefit of having "luck" on his side was definitely helping him in this instance, allowing him to narrowly escape many attacks that other, BETTER TRAINED fighters mot not escape from.

But for ALL the progress they were making, the HORDE seemed to NOT stop coming, a true testament to all the victim's of WITCHFIRE as each Hellion represented a person that she had brutally tortured and killed and then warped with her magick.

Soon, the strength and sheer NUMBER of Hellions became too much for the group, as Simon found himself overtaken by four of the creatures and they began to pull him down and FEED off of his body...

Meanwhile, a slight misstep on Cassandra and Vivica's part allowed a group of Hellions to bypass Cassandra and make their way towards Rebecca as Hellions from all sides began to latch onto the mutant women THEMSELVES. They were at the end of their rope.

They needed a MIRACLE.. and FAST!

A Helping Hand...

<< Brenthon had been tracking the group for some time now. His magickal senses had picked up on the fact that ONE of them was carrying an item that belonged to his mentor.. Though at FIRST he couldn't tell which one. In the Catacombs, Vivica would reveal the athame and speak of a Demon Witch attempting to exact Almora's Curse of Revenge on the World.

Still..he didn't interrupt or attempt to destroy the Hellions that were attacking the group immediately..because he hadn't deduced that they were even WORTHY of being saved. He would have been just as happy to watch the Hellions feast on the group, grab the athame and be on his way. :) He didn't know these people, and he didn't trust them as far as he could throw them. In fact, some of them reminded him of the horribly nefarious, undertrained and overall underwhelming acolytes from The Guardians of Light.. a coven that feebly tried to foil the attempts of his family from The Masters of Evil..that was a LONG time ago..another LIFETIME ago. And since the destruction of his entire family, he had remained in The Shadowed Path, choosing to forego human interaction and instead entrenching himself in the mysteries of his own lineage. >>

<< He watched in silence from within the shadows of the Catacombs as Rebecca was brutally attacked. In that moment, he slowly began to soften his view on the group. Miss Hawthorne was an obviousy capable and knowledgeable woman and he thought that she would have fit in nicely with his coven. She had an attitude and biting wit that reminded him of many of his friends.. that is when he HAD friends.. and as the onslaught from the Hellions began to overwhelm the group, attacking Simon.. going after Rebecca and overwhelming Cassandra and Vivica, he sighed and rolled his eyes. At the end of the day mutants may have had incredible powers, but they were still HUMAN, and in Brenthon's eyes.. incredibly weak. >>

<< A RUSH of CALM washed over the Catacombs as Cass, Simon and Vivica would notice something VERY strange. All at once... the Hellions had STOPPED dead in their tracks. Almost as if they had been frozen in time. They were still HISSING and SCREAMING at the top of their lungs, but the onslaught had stopped..thanks to a well timed Telekinetic hold Brenthon had ignited on the swarm. >>

"And now... I must reveal myself..."

<< The area around them became INCREDIBLY dark as they noticed that the shadows in the area around them began to SWIRL around, appearing to be "freed" from their natural form flying from the walls and forming into a giant swirling circle that appeared reminiscent of some kind of magickal "black oil" as from within them, Brenthon's form began to appear before the group. Sure he could have just jumped out of a nearby shadow, but if there was anything his comrades had taught him, it was the importance of presentation and making an entrance. ;) All at once, the shadows EXPLODED and magicaklly returned to their natural places within the catacombs as Brenthon stood before the group, all of whom were incredibly scared, not knowing if this was yet another colleague of Witchfire sent to kill them. Brenthon's deep brown eyes pierced their gazes individually as he gave a half smile. >>

"It appears you are in need of assistance...However..don't mistake my kindness for true genorosity.. Give me the athame..or i'll let them murder you and simply dig through your remains until I find it..."

<< His gaze met with Vivica's who was frantically scanning through her own mind to see if she came up with a match. She did not..and this scared her. Her abilities made her somewhat of a knowledge junkie, so when there was a person or event that she had not even an INKLING about.. it scared her. She was torn..What if this was an illusion from Witchfire? How could she trust it? While deep in thought for a moment, Brenthon cut her off, answering her own thoughts outloud. >>

"You DON'T know.. I'm sorry nothing in that 'brilliant' looking mind of yours proved useful. And unfortunately.. you don't have time to figure it out.. I'm growing tired of you already, and if you don't GIVE me that athame right now.. I'll take it myself and let go of my HOLD on these beasts. I have to say.. I am intrigued to see the state of dismemberment they might leave you in..."

<< Vivica looked at Cassandra and Simon and an unconscious Rebecca. She didn't trust him..but she went on the fact that he didn't have to stop these Hellions. He could have waited for them to be killed before he took the athame. She took a leap of faith and promptly pulled the athame out of her purse and handed it to the mysterious Gypsy Man. >>

"Good little kitten...and now I will return the favor."

<< Brenthon THREW his hands out as the small crystal pendant around his neck had began to glow a mystical violet hue. The crystal, a gift from his "sister" Darkchilde had allowed him CHANNEL Dark Magick in the same vein that she herself could (the crystal being imbued with a small part of her soul). >>

<< The second he threw his hands out the CRASH of Thunder and Lightning could be heard. The energy around the crystal expanded out to his hands in the form of halos as he lifted them HIGH in the air before SMASHING them against the ground unleashing a TIDAL wave of DARK MAGICK that TORE through the halls of the Catacombs on both sides. As each Hellion became enveloped in the WAVE, they were completely and UTTERLY destroyed..essentially becoming VAPORIZED as the magick smashed into the walls, busting the foundation on some, and ROCKING the entire underground, almost as if there were an earthquake. >>

<< All at once...as soon as it had started...it had stopped. There was absolutely NO sign of Hellions ANYWHERE in the hotel and for a moment.. everything fell silent. Brenthon closed his eyes and immediately said a prayer of thanks to one of his oldest friends for the "gift" she allowed him to channel before he moved over to Rebecca Hawthorne, completely disregarding the group. >>

"Your witch... she is dying..."

<< Kneeling down before Rebecca, he took a moment to assess her wounds, from within the pockets of his leather jacket, he produced a small vial that contained a potion. He quickly poured the potion over Rebecca's wounds as he placed a hand on her forehead. The potion was a mystical combination of ancient gypsy herbs imbued with healing magicks. As she slowly became conscious, Brenthon used his empathy to calm her mind, showing in contrast that although he was a deadly man, he DID have some kind of compassion for others. >>

"There we are, banya...easy to rise.."

<< His hungarian accent dripped of mystery and intrigue as slowly and surely, Cassandra, Simon and Vivica were able to slowly recover from the brutal onslaught and the suprising development of the Gypsy before them. >>

awww! sooo good to see Darkchilde's lovely & deadly Brenthon back in action!
Catacombs - Hawthorne Hotel

:: Cass looked on in horror as Rebecca began to bleed from the stomach, but she couldn't do or say anything because those damn HELLIONS were back! She, Simon, and Vivica immediately went into battle, Simon on their right, the girls on the left. Cass was shocked by how well they worked together, but alas, it was not enough. One misstep and a entire committee of hellions bypassed them and descended upon the fallen witch. Before Cass could do anything, two of them latched onto HER. SHe laid her hand on them, and watched as they turned to dust but must like weeds, as soon as you got rid of TWO, three more took their place. She was beginning to get tired. ::

"NO! Not again!"

We need help...

:: As if somebody had heard her thought, she felt something strange and noticed the hellions had STOPPED what they were doing. She watched a black swirl of SOMETHING appear in their midst and watched the shadows do some kind of enchanted dance before fallin away and revealing a mysterious stranger in their midst. ::

Well, that was kind of cool, I think...

:: The young man was good-looking, Cass noted. ;) Then he started to speak. From his accent, Cass judged him to be either Romanian or Hungarian. Staying in the Nazi reasearch facility all those years ago, Cass encountered some Hungarian gypsies. They had regaled the teenage Cass with stories of their kind and even taught her some phrases. Sadly, they had perished in RIGHT before the facility was liberated. Still, Cass never forgot about them. They had become like her adopted parental figures after Maria had died. SHe watched the back and forth between Vivica and this new person. ::

Who IS this guy?!

*gratefully*: "Köszönöm..." Thank you

Great post! Love the reference to her own past encounters w/ gypsies, which gave her the ability to recognize some of Brenthon's overall nature & appaearence
Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

< Simon was becoming slowly exhausted. He had always been an athlete, and a good one at that. But sporting events tend to lack the "fighting for your life" quality that was present in his current situation. Still, he pushed on. His desire to live and reward himself with a perfectly age red wine far outweighed his exhaustion. Lunging forward with his sword he began to execute moves both ferocious and quick. Moves that would have cost him valuable points in a match, but here served to aid him in his goal of survival. Bringing his blade down, up, sideways...every move possible was being used, and although he was dispatching Hellions left and right...MORE just kept coming. >

"Now THIS...is just RUDE..."

< Turning his blade sideways, he attempted to use it as a weapon to force the horde BACK, but their sheer numbers were overwhelming, and as Simon LIFTED the blade high in the air to execute a deadly smash, Hellions LATCHED onto his harm and tackled him to the ground, eagerly chomping at his flesh, and nearly destroying the suit he was wearing. Obviously these Hellions had no appreciation for a perfectly tailored Tom Ford suit. >

"Ahhhh!"

< Simon cried out in pain when ALL at once...it stopped. The Hellions were stopped dead in their tracks. They weren't frozen, but seemingly "held into place" by...something. Though he was grateful, he was also worried. This meant something more powerful was coming along..He just hoped it was friend and not foe. >

< Okay.. THAT was pretty damn impressive. Simon slowly regained his footing and rose to his feet, liimping a little bit, his body incredibly SORE feeling. >

Cassandra: Köszönöm...

< Simon shrugged. >

"I'm assuming that means "Thank You".. that being the case, I fully echo that sentiment..."

< He watched Brenthon lean over Rebecca. >

"Is.. she okay?"

Catacombs - The Hawthorne Hotel

"UGH!"

- Vivica slammed into one of the Hellions, leading with her right shoulder as she spun around in a half circle, grabbing the Hellion along for the ride and SLAMMED him into another one of his "friends" before executing a killer sidekick, throwing them right in the direction of Cassandra as she "dusted" them promptly. He nodded to her with approval. -

"Sorry..."

- Landing a LEFT HOOK into a Hellion as she spoke. -

"I..."

- BAM! A roundhouse kick straight to the gut of another Hellion. -

"Underestimated YOU! Now... DUST!"

- As two more Hellions swarmed the mutant, she crouched down and lunged forward, sideswiping two of the demons as she rolled forward, landing behind them as she threw BOTH Of her hands out, knocking them one hand each in their backs as they were CATAPULTED forward, completely bamboozled by Vivica's quick thinking and flawless attack. The Hellions ROLLED as they made their way to Cassandra who quickly DUSTED them TOO. Vivica took note that whatever Cass was doing to these things only seemed to make her STRONGER. -

- The two girls worked together, dispatching Hellions left and right..but for every Hellion they dispatched, another one simply took it's place. Soon.. the numbers began to overwhelm them. -

"AHHH!!"

- The bite of an angry and snapping Hellion had attached onto her shoulder. Her eyes widened as she looked at Cassandra desperately. -

"Rebecca! Stop them before they get to Rebecca!!!"

- Seven Hellions began to break the stronghold that the two women had created as Vivica fell to her knees, her hands shielding her face and eyes. But at that moment, they would get help that was most CERTAINLY needed. -

- Vivica was GRATEFUL to the mysterious man as she rapidly began scanning her memory banks desperately trying to pull up ANYTHING that seemed familiar, but she found NOTHING. She was unsure as to whether or not she could trust him, and she didn't want to essentially HAND the athame over to Witchfire herself. Brenthon countered her THOUGHTS as he spoke. -

- She was running out of options, but something within her told her to trust him. If he was truly working with Witchfire, he would have let the Hellions kill them. But just WHAT he wanted to do with the Athame? She didn't know...However, she took a leap of faith and frantically pulled the Athame out of her bag, handing it to him. -

"So... you're a gypsy... tell me I didn't just hand The Athame of Almora over to someone who plans to do the same thing with it as the Demon Witch..."

"Ohhh...my head..."

<< Slowly, Rebecca began to awaken from what had actually felt like a peaceful slumber, thanks to the workings of Brenthon's empathy. Her vision was incredibly blurry as she began to try and make out the shapes and faces of those around her. >>

"I...where...is..everyone okay?"

<< As things around her became clear, she began to make out the faces of Vivica and Brenthon who were both looking at her with a concerned glance, Brenthon still pressing his hand against her forehead. All at once it was as if the light she had inside of her returned. She stopped to stare at Brenthon for a moment. >>

"Oh Goddess...I'm dead aren't I? Vivica? Do tell me why this incredibly gorgeous man is petting my forehead? Are you dead too?"

<< Brenthon pulled his hand away from Rebecca's head as she stopped him. >>

"No, no handsome.. I didn't say STOP. I was just wondering why..."

<< IN an extremely RARE moment, Rebecca was pretty sure she caught the glimpse of a smile form in the corners of Brenthon's mouth. >>

<< Rebecca looked around. The Hellions were all gone. She knew it couldn't have been any of the mutants. Bless their hearts, they may have been powerful but they weren't THAT good. Suddenly, she began to focus on Brenthon's face. Something about him seemed familiar. One of Rebecca's magickal abilities was that she was able to discern otherworldly creatures and entities with incredible accuracy. Coupled with her extensive research and knowledge of the magickal world, there were VERY few occassions in which she didn't know what she was dealing with. Her eyes widened for a moment. >>

"Well...if it isn't The Protector of The Path... Nobody has seen or heard from you in a very, very long time young man!"

<< Rebecca set up for a moment, wiping a few silver wisps of hair out of her face. >>

"But I have to say, you're timing is rather impeccable. We couldn't ask for a better ally..."

<< Brenthon's gaze softened for a moment at Rebecca's words. She certainly was a firecracker and served to remind him that there might people out there that he could trust...even LIKE, and that was something that he hadn't expected. Still his inner dialogue did not show across his face as he stood from the woman, removing his hand from her forehead. >>

"Well.. don't mistake my appearance as some sort of triumphant return. I originally came here to collect the items that were STOLEN from my mentor's grave and return them...."

<< Turning around for a moment. >>

"But now it appears that I must kill a witch as well..."

<< He looked at Vivica for a moment. >>

"I am not familiar with this..."area". And while I am capable of tracking her items just as I did with the athame..I'm afraid I don't have the time for that.. the few moments I spent in your brain showed me that YOU.. <<pointing to the mutant >> Do..."

"Let's do this the easy way...give me the items..THEN.. I will find the witch and kill her..."
