I refuse to stand with those people who loot and burn buildings and beat up people all in the name of 'protesting'. And then they wonder why everybody is wanting to shut them down. THAT does NOT help matters AT ALL and it makes me not want to stand with them.

I agree; there is a HUGE problem but rioting in the streets every time somebody gets shot is not helping.

who said anything about rioting & burning buildings?

although, we do need to be honest about THAT as well. what is the rioting really a symptom of? why is it happening? when you have a group of people who are subject to systemic racism, living in high poverty communities & subject to brutal policing tacts, what is going to happen when the boiling point is reached?

Do I think rioting is okay? No. BUT I don't know how I'd feel OR how i'd REACT if I was repeatedly targeted by police, & then woke up in the middle of the night to find out my husband/son/brother was murdered by the police...& there was already the sense that no one would be held accountable for it.

Another thing, I think that when it comes to the issue of rioting (in this situation) objects, property can be replace & rebuilt. that's what insurance is for. LIVES cannot be restored once they are cut short.

Sorry. Violent "protests" [and they happened in Ferguson, Charlotte, Baton Rouge, etc, etc].

That STILL doesn't make it okay for rational/sensible people to go off like that for whatever reason. You don't see white people looting stores and burning down buildings because something doesn't go their way or one of them gets shot/killed [of course, if our hydro bills in Ontario get any higher...I may have to eat crow lol. Everybody is pissed about that. Our premier, Kathleen Wynne, is getting the brunt of it all. But that's another issue].

True; VERY true. But still. SANE people don't riot in the streets because of whatever reason. And those people I see on the tv? They are supposed to be SANE.

I get that they're angry. I get that they want change. I get that they are pissed off when [it seems] cops are killing off their own one by one. I GET that. I stand with them on all of that. But I don't stand with them when they spread chaos and more heartbreak throughout their cities/towns [due to rioting/'protests'].
