"Annie" reviews: Critics say don't bet your bottom dollar

------------------------

I had a feeling this would happen.

Was there really a need to remake the musical (& subsequent 1982 film classic) AGAIN? The 1982 film version is right up there w/ "A Christmas story". It's something that is timeless & classic & really doesn't need to be remade.

I sampled some of the music for the new film, including the update on the Annie theme "Hard knock life" & it's all rather bland & definitely reeks of autotone.

Jamie Foxx looks handsome as William "Will" Stacks & apparently Cameron Diaz delights as the villainous Ms Hannigan (but NO ONE can out do Carol Burnett's version :D ) & one scene I'd be curious to check out to see how they handle it in this film is the "Easy Street" routine.

I never really liked the original, so I actually had hopes for this one, but the performances I saw that they did on tv before the film came out underwhelmed me. I'm sure I'll end up watching it at some point with my nieces, so maybe it will surprise me.

My only fear for this is after seeing the usual group of racist jerks from facebook and twitter pan the casting of Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis people might not give this a far look see
