the fog comes in

<< as Sharon converses with Carl, the town square has come to order as Mayor Karen Victoria stands at the podium on stage and addresses them all, reminding them of where the town began, how far they've come and and how they needed to be thankfull...But Karen seemed distracted at times as the wind picked up a bit.>>

<< the fog itself was now making land fall, sweeping along but hanging low for now. it was still too far out for anyone else to notice, but this time, the fog seemed to be moving with a purpose...toward the WEATHER center first.>>

<< Karen continues her speech, with the citizens all holding their candles. soon will come the moment for them to light their candles and witness the unveiling of the statue, a statue featuring the founding fathers of Thunder Bay!>>

Arklay Lighthouse

[ Sharon cues up the next track and continues to stay on the phone with Carl. He tries in vain to flirt with her but she seems less than interested, looking concerned as she sees the fog covering more and more of the water and the shoreline.]

[cutting him off in mid sentence]: Carl, where's the fog now?

[ the light of the lighthouse continues to spin at a steady pace, flashing through the DJ studio at regular intervals.]

Carl: According to my machine, it should be...right outside my door.

Sharon: Carl....

Oracle said:
: outside the weather center, comes a hard, slow, steady KNOCK. a pause, then another knock. like someone was intent on getting an answer to the door.

Carl: It must be one hell of a fog. it swept in so quickly...its coming in under the door and it sounds like some kids are trying to play a prank now. They aren't gonna like that i'm HOME. Hold on, baby.

Sharon: Carl...stay on the phone! Don't answer the door!

Carl: be right back!

[ Sharon listens intently. Carl opens the door and after a few moments, he turns back toward the console and the phone.]

Carl: See, Silver Swan? They took....

Oracle said:
he never gets to finish his sentence as he is assailed by three large figures. they are human male in form, weilding swords and other large blades as they pull him out of of the door way into the fog and the sounds of their blades tearing him apart can be heard, along with his screams and bloody gasps and gurgle of last breath.]

Sharon: CARL!! .......CARL!!!

[ Sharon gasps as she hears his apparent death over the phone. She looks stunned...holding the phone a bit longer before snapping out of her blank stare. hanging the phone up, she turns to her console and speaks live on the air.]

on the air: I interrupt my broadcast....Chief Michael Armstrong, call RSK radio station IMMEDIATELY! It is an EMERGENCY! Police Chief Michael Armstrong, call RSK RADIO STATION IMMEDIATELY! EMERGENCY!

<< Carl is the first, but he wont be the last. Sharon's screams for him go unanswered as he is torn limb from limb. the door to the weather center left wide open as the fog rolls in and floods the area.>>

<< the fog moves through the roads, the woodsy areas...spreading out and encompassing the area fast. the next stop is the POWER GRID...as the fog gains access in whatever openings it can, it begins to seep into the machines and generators...>>

<< meanwhile, at the townsquare, Mike is summoned by another officer, who discreetly informs him that Sharon Kelly is calling him to contact her at the lighthouse immediately. that it's an EMERGENCY!>>

<<On the stage, Karen, who is not yet aware of what has happened at the weather center, closes her speech, having deleted HALF of what she intended to say, now realizing that most of it would be inappropriate, considering the REAL history of this township's birth.>>

<< the fog has not yet reached the downtown area or Donder & Blitzen but it was just matter of time.>>

D & B

Unlocking the stall, Blaze walked over to the mirror. Her cheeks would be flushed while she ran her fingers to comb through her hair. Glancing over her shoulder to see the man she had seduced offered her a lopsided grin. His tie had been wrinkled and coiled around the back of his neck and his short hair was a disheveled mess.

"I can see where you get your fierceness from."

Blaze chuckled while shaking her head, "Morgan has taught me a thing or to." She ironed out her dress while she re-applying her makeup. Doing another 'hair check' before turning towards the door when he gently touched her arm.

"Hey, you know we should do this again. Here's my number."

Blaze peered down at the thin piece of paper before she smirked, shaking her head.

"Sorry babe, I prefer to roam the lands not be caged. I don't do relationships...they are just too messy and hurtful. I prefer casual. Thanks for thinking of me, love."

Leaning up to peck him a kiss on the cheek before exiting the bathroom, a playful sway of her hips would be given. Blaze was unaware of the impending fog that would roam off in a far away distance as she felt more relaxed having her flames....extinguished would be the appropriate word.

Most of the crowd within the building seemed to be alienated by Haleigh's little outburst from earlier. Chuckling under her breath she didn't pay the couple any further attention, she'd prefer to keep herself alive.

"Silver Swan" alerted all her listeners that the ceremony and unveiling of the statue in the town square was about to begin and thus, her live simulcast radio mix would be ending, but she'd still be playing music and some updates until midnight.

Blaze would move through the crowd to a table specifically reserved for her. Sinking down she would idly cross her legs while ordering herself a sparkling water. Enjoying the festive mood that DJ Swan provided. Even that would be interrupted as Sharon's voice sounded frantic!

I interrupt my broadcast....Chief Michael Armstrong, call RSK radio station IMMEDIATELY! It is an EMERGENCY! Police Chief Michael Armstrong, call RSK RADIO STATION IMMEDIATELY! EMERGENCY!

Quickly dialing Sharon's private line to inquire if her friend was okay. The cell phone would ring.

"Come on pick up!"

Mike was listening to Karen's speech. It was altogether quite good, and it provided a welcome rest for him. As he looked over the crowd, he saw Simone, the young woman he'd danced with earlier. She winked at him licking her lips lightly as she did so. He gulped and continued to check the crowd for threats.

Suddenly, an officer began to work his way to the stage, obviously agitated. Mike discreetly stepped to one side where the young man spoke into his ear.

Call RSK radio immediately. Silver Swan just put out an SOS for you.

Mike grabbed his radio and made an terse order to the officers and security under his command.

Go on heightened security. Be prepared to herd to safety or disperse this crowd, on my command.

Mike nodded and picked up his cell phone, immediately calling the special line that they used for extreme weather and other emergency situations. As it rang, his heart sank, because he knew this could only be one thing...

As Nicolas shared a moment with Haleigh, he emanated a telepathic rapport designed to urge normalcy among the patrons. Slowly, they would get back to their normal revelry and the night should be salvageable.

Not so fast. As Nicolas began to relax a bit, he heard the distress call. Sharon was obviously frantic. As everyone else had their own way to reach her, he was unique. Immediately, Sharon would sense his mental presence probing. Her mind was well-shielded and very strong, but their rapport allowed him enough access to know what had occurred with Carl as the source of her distress and so he skipped to the particulars.

I'm sorry you heard that Sharon but please...tell me. Where is the fog now? And where is Kyle?

Arklay Lighthouse

[ Blaze and Mike both attempt to call Sharon. She picks up the first line (Blaze)]

RSK Radio. [Blaze answers.] Blaze?? Hold on...let me answer the priority line, it must be Mike!

[ She puts Blaze on hold, and answers the second line.]

Hello, Mike?

[ Mike speaks, but as he does...then it happens, the FOG overtakes the power grid and outside, around the area, the fog reaches up telephone poles and power lines, causing immediate breakage and blackout that cascades around the town and thus, cuts off Sharon from Blaze and Mike.]

[ Sharon looks at the phone in dismay, realizing that it and her entire station are completely dead. DEAD...but then she realizes...]

the generator!

[ she rushes out of the dj studio. through the hall and down the spiral stair case to the ground floor. the generator is near a storage locker and hasn't been used for sometime but Sharon is super strong, strong enough to rival Morgan and Nicolas. She would get that generator on. She HAD to.]

[ She hear's Nicolas in her head as she beguns tugging and pulling on the generator's chord.]

Nicolas said:
I'm sorry you heard that Sharon but please...tell me. Where is the fog now? And where is Kyle?

Just wait....I have to....

[ she yanks again.]

COME ON!

[she yells! after two more pulls, the machine FINALLY cranks ON and the power to the lighthouse and radio station comes back online. she rushes back upstairs.]

[ back at the top of the lighthouse, in the studio, Sharon scrambles back into her seat at the center of the wrap around console. the light from the lighthouse spins around once more, flashing through the studio at regular intervals as it shines out to sea.]

[ Nicolas asked where Kyle was...and at that moment, She looks out toward the direction of her ocean loft. the fog...it has completely washed over her loft...and Kyle is INSIDE.]

D&b

Blaze would await anxiously for Sharon to answer until finally she would pick up.

Blaze?? Hold on...let me answer the priority line, it must be Mike!

“Yes, Sharon its me. What’s going on? Are you okay? Okay, I’ll hold.”

Keeping her voyager to her ear, Blaze peered around the room seeing Nicolas seemed worried himself. While Blaze was holding on the other line, the power at the radio station would be cut short. Causing them to be disconnected as Blaze would be dropped.

“Damnit!”

Cursing under her breath, Blaze would attempt to call back but instead received a recording. Ending the call she would scroll to her address book until she dialed Morgan’s number. Hoping her sister would pick up. When Morgan picked up, Blaze explained the situation.

“Morgan, something is wrong at the light house. Sharon has dispatched an emergency call, something is happening and when I tried to reach her I received a recording.”

Listening on the other end of the line while gazing around the room.

the fog

<< the fog is coming further in. Spreading out across the area. the power is down and nearly all communication is out as well.>>

<< Just as the statue had been unvieled and those in attendance were proceeding past it, Mike would return to the mayor, informing her it was time to close the ceremony at once. Karen didnt argue. At Mike's word the officers and others involved would begin to calmly but quickly evacuate everyone, informing them that it was time to return home.>>

and at Sharon's ocean loft

<< Kyle and the babysitter, Mrs. Kobritz stand at the sliding doors looking at to the deck and over the ocean.>>

Kyle: look at the fog! it's coming in so thick! I want to go outside!

Mrs. Kobritz: << with a worried look on her face.>> I've tried calling your mother but the phone lines or down. The power company will get it fixed soon I'm sure...but for now i think we better close all the doors and windows.

Kyle: Yes Mrs. Kobritz...

<< and so, the young boy and his older baby sitter quickly close windows and lock them, as well as the doors. now, Kyle and Mrs. Kobritz are standing together in the foyer as the fog horn tolls mounfully.>>

Kyle: Do you think mommy's okay?

Mrs. Kobritz: I'm sure she's fine, Kyle. She's in the lighthouse which is very tall and can see way out to sea! she's helping to make sure other ships come in safely!

<< at that moment, the knocking comes at the door....strong, slow knocking. Kyle and Mrs. Kobritz look on as it continues.>>

Mrs. Kobritz: I want you to go to you room.

Kyle: aww...but I want to see who it is!

Mrs. Kobritz: no Kyle. go to your room.

Kyle: but can't i stay just for a few more minutes??

Mrs. Kobritz: No Kyle. Right now!

Kyle: << poking his lip out a bit.>> ohhh...okay.

<< he slowly does as he's told. going into his room. Mrs. Kobritz waves him off as he finally shuts the door. and she, looks back at the double front doors. she moves forward slowly, with trepidation...finally, against better judgement, she opens the doors and the fog comes billowing in. she extends her hands, waving them through the fog trying to see, but it is a futile effort. She hears little and sees no one but the fog all around as she steps through the doorway. the foghorn tolls again and as she turns around...it happens. the decayed hands of the figures that were seen in the fog before reach out, grabbing her, covering her mouth as they pull her out and down...before they kill her dead with their weapons of vengeance.>>

<< her death is a silent one. Kyle does not hear it. instead he sits quietly in his room, on his bed...waiting...hoping...>>

Kyle: Mrs. Kobritz???

<< the young boy didnt immediately know he was now alone.>>

at Donder & Blitzen

<< as whispers about the fog being seen began to filter around, many residents began to leave, heading for the comfort and safety of their homes. the speech was closed and those who were downtown were seeing the statue. it was a stroke of LUCK that so many innocents were removing themselves from harm's way as the faintest traces of the fog could be seen around the area. it was coming...and most people wanted to be off the road before it came because of how hard it is to drive.>>

<< Blaze is on the other side of the bar away from Nicolas and Haleigh, having just lost Sharon on the line, she now dials her sister. Nicolas is trying to contact Sharon telepathically, a sound move, except that Sharon is growing more and more distressed at the moment and all but IGNORING his mental calls...and with her mind being stronger than the average (yet not psi screened mind) he couldnt "press his way" with her like he might a normal unshieled mind. he'd have to be patient, and hope that she'd calm down enough to hear his continued call.>>

The crowd began to disperse as the ceremony quickly ended. At the same time, the power went out, leaving the place in an eerie silence followed by panicked voices that were steadily rising as people began to hustle home more quickly even than before. Nicolas stood quickly, helping everyone to their cars and making sure people who were too drunk to drive were properly carpooled.

As Sharon became more panicked, she began to push Nicolas out mentally, ignoring his calls. Nicolas continued to reach out to her, but he also began to reach out to Kyle, trying to sense what was going on.

Kyle, this is Nicolas. Are you OK? What's going on there?

He also sent messages to two others:

To Delilah: Secure Karen and Mike, and regroup with Ava and Morgan, who should soon be looking for you. The fog is back, and it is killing already. Carl at the weather station is dead. I will get back to you ASAP.

To Ava: This is Nicolas. Forget earlier, you two be SAFE. I have my eye on Blaze right now, but the fog...its back already and it has killed at least one person. Get Morgan together and get over to her mother and Delilah. They will be looking for you.

The lighthouse

[ Sharon looked out of the lighthouse toward her own.]

KYLE!

[ she cried out as the fog completely covered it.]

on the air: someone, please...my son is TRAPPED! 8843 White Beach Lane!!

[ the fear in kyle's mind was registered by his mother and Sharon's distressed calls for help to her son broadcast over the radio.]

the fog

<< the fog was intensifying. As Sharon's distress call for her son went out over the radio, there was some tremendous feedback.>>

<< Mike ordered the officers under his command to begin evacuation of the town square and as Nicolas' message reached Delilah and Ava...the worst scenario seemed to be unfolding.>>

<< Nicolas and Haleigh rushed to Sharon's ocean front home to retrieve Kyle...and not a moment too soon! the fog was all through the house, the figures banging at his bedroom door, coming THROUGH it with their hooks and weapons.>>

<< Kyle sat, drawn up on his bed. First he was curious..but NOW he was afraid.>>

Mommy???

<< Nicolas arrives at the house, calling out to him mentally to reassure him. Nicolas will be able to scan the house to find the window to Kyle's room and extract him through it before its too late, while Haleigh waits outside in the truck, ready to pull off immediately. She can hear Sharon's distress over the radio.>>

back at the town square

<< the citizens who have not already left have been ushered into nearby buildings, storefronts or whatever would pass for sanctuary before being handed kerosene lamps and told to stay inside and under cover.>>

<< Delilah usher's Karen off the stage and the meet with Morgan and Ava out in the town square with Morgan on the phone with Blaze. With all efforts being taken to keep innocents out of harm's way, It's coming down to the "family" now. Morgan, Ava, Delilah and Karen standing together and Mike returning while Nicolas and Haleigh rescue Sharon's son.>>

<<there is one more "player" to join the team and the real race between life and death is about to begin!>>

Nicolas' eyes widened as he got an overwhelming sense of fear from Sharon. At once, the tavern owner had turned on a battery-operated radio to Sharon's broadcast, where this was heard.

someone, please...my son is TRAPPED! 8843 White Beach Lane!!

Blaze, regroup with your sister. Have her retrieve you. We have to go to Kyle.

Nicolas ran outside with Haleigh and towards the darkness, hopping in the car and speeding away...then teleporting him and the car to Sharon's. He got out and ran to the side of the house that Kyle's bedroom was on. he sensed the carnage in the house and he "spoke" to Kyle as he reached the window.

KYLE! It's Nicolas. I have come to get you. Don't be afraid, but I have to be fast.

Nicolas jumped into the window opening as he used his TK to rip the glass away, landing beside the young boy's bed. He gently lifted him into his arms, reassuring him as he turned.

I've got you boy. No one is going to hurt you. Not tonight, not EVER.

Nicolas jumped back out, racing for the Bugatti...

the townsquare

<< Morgan sits with Ava. Watching her mother, who at moments seemed distracted. Morgan watched intently, as she herself became uneasy.>>

<< leaning over to Ava and whispering.>>

I feel like something is coming...something unnatural! do you feel anything in the weather?

<< it was slightly breezy, the FOG had already started moving in, but as before, it was not a naturally occurring fog.>>

<< as Karen wrapped up her speech, the power FAILED all around them, causing a bit of unrest among the audience. Morgan remained seated so as not to make it look like "panic" was the best option. Karen managed to assert some order and as everyone who was there began to file past the statue, Morgan looked over at Ava.>>

a power failure....

<< the procession was progressing rather rapidly and soon, Morgan's phone began to ring.>>

it's Blaze!

<< answernig>>

Blaze said:
Morgan, something is wrong at the light house. Sharon has dispatched an emergency call, something is happening and when I tried to reach her I received a recording.”

<< looking to Ava....>>

Something's wrong. Sharon issued a distress call to Mike from the lighthouse and now that the power's down, Blaze can't get in touch with Sharon, which mean's Mike can't either!

<< with it already being night and now blacked out, the town took on a more haunting look to it. Morgan noticed that the Police were now executing an evacuation plan. the ceremony didnt get an official benediction but by now that didnt seem to matter. those who were present were being hustled into nearby buildings and storefronts and those buildings being closed up.>>

I have to get Blaze!

<< she and Ava pushed through the crowds, reaching Delilah and Karen in the center of the square near the large statue.>>

Mom...

<< Hugging her mother, Morgan was not yet aware that Nicolas had contacted Ava or that He and Haleigh had gone to rescue Sharon's son, whose babysitter had been murdered along with Carl.>>

I have to get Blaze. Delilah, can you get my mother out of here?

Delilah: What do you think i was about to do now?

<< Morgan smiled at Delilah.>>

Girl, i know you're on your beat...it's just that everything is happening so FAST!

Delilah sat attentively listening to Karen’s speech. She knew it nearly by heart of course and noticed that Karen had edited her speech since the last draft. So she wasn’t as unaffected by the implications of Alison’s journal as she seemed. Delilah was just glad that it was over with more quickly.

Her attention was momentarily distracted by a disturbance next to her – Mike was being called away by one of his men. She immediately sat up straighter – alert and worried. She saw the evacuation order given, and she silently moved to assist in dispersing the crowd. She used her powers to have a calming effect on the crowd – no one needed a panic right now.

Suddenly Nicolas’ voice was in her head:

=Rampage] To Delilah: Secure Karen and Mike, and regroup with Ava and Morgan, who should soon be looking for you. The fog is back, and it is killing already. Carl at the weather station is dead. I will get back to you ASAP.

She got next to Karen. “Morgan is waiting for us – we need to regroup with her and Ava.”

Delilah moved Karen out into the square where Morgan and Ava met them. Despite the situation, the two women looked as put together as ever, not a hair out of place. The bitches. ;)

She returned Morgan’s smile.

“I’ll take care of Karen – you just get Blaze and get somewhere safe.”

Delilah began ushering Karen to the car, looking for Mike as she went.

leaving the town square

Okay Dee, be carefull...both of you! Get undercover and we'll meet back up again.

<< she hugged Delilah and she and Ava took off running for her jag.>>

Blaze, stay where you are...and stay inside the building if you can! Ava and I are coming to get you now.

<< they get into the jag, and peel off with high beams on. >>

Dammit! there's nothing like a fog of doom to ruin a BUZZ! This is almost worse than the time Nicolas couldn't get it up! :D

<< Morgan zooms along...praying silently that she reaches Blaze in time.>>

While everyone else went one way, Mike went the other, helping people to safety and making sure that they had light and someone with a radio in each area in control. As he moved, he noted the fog's advance, keeping a timer in his mind on how long they had been moving. So far so good, and he was headed back to meet with the others when he saw a figure running to him. It was Simone, and she had neglected to enter one of the safe places!!!

He grabbed her shoulders, shaking her.

What the hell is wrong with you?!!

I wanted to stay near yo-

NO!! Look, you're really pretty and I'm sure very nice, but I am in a relationship right now, I think. Let's get you out if here.

Suddenly an ice cold hand grabs her dress, tearing it away as one of the apparitions with weapons swung at her. Mike pulled her out of the way, getting his arm sliced pretty good for his trouble. He rolled backwards with the now undressed girl , pulling his firearm as he squeezed off several shoots, one of which hit the scythe wielded by the spook, causing it tp stagger back.

Mike picked up Simone and ran back to a nearby hardware store that had people in it, leaving her with a deputy. He took off his jacket and covered the young woman with it. he then grabbed a bush axe and re-entered the town, keeping out of sight as he made his way back to the others.

Sorry I'm late. I had something to take care of.

He ignored his left arm, which was bleeding through his white shirt...

the town square

<< the speech went well enough. Karen felt a bit "distracted" at a few moments, but she kept it together and made it through. the power went out, but she was able to unveil the statue at least.>>

good, so far so...

<< spoke too soon. she turned around to see Mike was gone and soon after, the police, acting on his orders were evacuating the citizens that had not already begun to leave. Delilah used her power over light to keep the calm, for which Karen was very greatfull.>>

Delilah: Come on Karen, we've got to move off the stage and down into the square.

Karen: the fog is coming...isnt it?

Delilah: Morgan is waiting for us – we need to regroup with her and Ava.

<< down to the square, Karen and Delilah stay together and finally Morgan and Ava meet them. Mother and Daughter hug.>>

Karen: Where's Mike?

Morgan: He's probably doing what he does best...barking orders and waving his gun around.

<< Karen glared at her daughter, to which Morgan silently replied with a bemused look on her face.>>

Morgan What?? << pretending to be shocked.>> But seriously though? I have to get Blaze! She's still at the tavern! Delilah, can you get my mom out of here?

Delilah: What do you think i was about to do now?

<< Morgan smiled at Delilah >>

Morgan: Girl, i know you're on your beat...it's just that everything is happening so FAST!

Delilah:“I’ll take care of Karen – you just get Blaze and get somewhere safe.”

<< Morgan and Delilah hugged and as Karen and Delilah rushed to one car, Ava and Morgan went to the other. Karen called out after her daughter.>>

You be carefull honey! NO HERORICS! Just get Blaze and get out!

MIKE?

<< she called for Mike just as Delilah was looking for him.>>

Oh for pete's sake..WHERE is he?

<< almost on cue>>

Mike said:
Sorry I'm late. I had something to take care of.

Take care of something INDEED! WHAT HAPPENED!?

Delilah: There's NO TIME TO ARGUE! let's just get in the car PLEASE and get the hell out of here!

<< there was precious little time....but they would get some unexpected help from Sharon via radio soon enough. They would find that "getting undercover" was not the ultimate solution...only PART of it.>>

<< Karen and Mike get in the back, Delilah takes the driver's seat and Karen immediately expresses her distress over his wound.>>

What were you doing!? WHERE were you? with your new little...FAN!?

<< she bellowed with indignation as Delilah peeled off as well.>>

Let me fix this...

<< waving her hand and weaving a small pattern of power, before directing the magick toward his wound.>>

Delilah, maybe we should turn on the radio, see what Sharon is saying? The lighthouse has its own back up generator so she's probably on that now!

Mike watched the magic work on his wound as he replied.

Let's just say that the fog is out for blood tonight. I was herding people to safety when it attacked Simone. I fought it off, though.

Mike listened as the radio began to play in the car...

around the dark town

<< as the apparitions began to tear through the door to Kyle's room. the young boy sat...drawn up, trying to be brave...but knowing that he was truly afraid now.>>

Mommy....

<< he said softly as he looked toward the door with wide eyes...but then the glass in his window broke out as NICOLAS arrived!>>

<< Kyle gladly reached for Nicolas as he took him and escaped the room just as the figures bust in through the door and began to converage. Nicolas had Kyle but their danger was not over yet. Haleigh was waiting in the truck but the fog was all around them and as she began to take off, she found the truck was now immobilized, the whiles stuck in the mirror and SPINNING! and soon, the apparitions, walking slowly, if not a bit impaired, began looming and coming toward them...dripping with sea water and sea weed.>>

out of downtown, along the dark roads

<< Morgan and Ava head in one direction while Delilah heads in another. They dont know it yet, but ALL of them will be forced to gather in one final place, where they will make their stand...their lives, and the town will depend on it.>>

Donder & Blitzen

<< most of the patrons who remained are now in the basement, with the door locked. Blaze chose to remain up above, counting on her powers and the fact that her sister was coming.>>

<< the fog was now billowing and swelling, flowing all around. even creeping in through the crack between the door and the floor. it was completely dark and silent inside the bar with only Blaze to light her own way. It felt a bit colder too. soon, the knocking came...that loud, heavy, slow knocking. It was her turn...and would Morgan and Ava reach her in time?>>
