Heart Attack
Okay...
you have to remember, garrick, that i asked EVERYONE to speak how they felt. you've done it, and that's what vil is doing now. we ALL take pride in the characters we play. we like to know that they bring something to the game because they are extensions of US. there's no competition here. this isnt a board wide rpg with covens or teams fighting each other..which is where MOST of us in this game herald from when it comes to this sort of thing. you're different in that you have experience but its DIFFERENT than ours and yet you're still able to play in this type of game
however, what ive seen in this discussion from more than one person is that it comes across that Nicolas has to "lord" his position as the "physically strongest" over the six. i HAVE seen it, and i've talked with you about this before via PM and in OOC. WE UNDERSTAND the scope of his abilities, but you don't have to REMIND us of it at every turn through his actions. Moments of DRAMA, which is what the exchange between Nicolas and Delilah amounts to, can and SHOULD happen in the game and i think EVERYONE could see WHY Delilah wanted to smack Nicolas. She's told him BEFORE not to enter her mind without permission and that'swhat he did, not to mention WHAT he did while doing it. Delilah's reaction was logical (contrary to your most recent opinion that it wasnt) given the HISTORY and that she doesnt like telepaths in her head against her consent.
I was the person who brought up the issue of Delilah's arm being broken because it LOOKED rather extreme to me. I dont think anyone in their right mind would justify that kind of thing (rpg or real life). You can't compare Delilah to Alison because they are such differente personality times. Alison would have tried her best to MURDER Nicolas behind what he did to Delilah if Alison had been in her place...but I digress on that. What Vilandra is trying to say is that you had Nicolas derail a moment that pretty much everyone could see coming. You didnt want your character to be smacked? what if it had been Alison, Morgan, Hecate, Circe or Malice? would you have had him do that then? ALL OF US have had things happen to our characters we did not WANT time and again, in this game and in other games with other characters. You can't control EVERYTHING that happens...if anything..that's MY job as the mastrix and I dont even do it to that degree with my characters OR Oracle unless its absolutely necessary.
the way you use Nicolas, sometimes, IS heavy handed at the wrong moments and those actions not only make it difficult for other charactes but the players themselves and you can't take offense behind that. we need to TALK about it and work it out, like we're doing now.
ANY character is at risk of injury or death in this game. I've said that from the beginning and it should be understood. we used to have a disclaimer when those of us were playing on the charmed boards would go into the battle forum "enter at your own risk and if you don't clearly post your exit, you can and WILL be attacked, possibly killed". You shouldnt be COMPARING the hits your character has taken against anyone else's here.
A) you're the newest player and so your character has participated in fewer storylines, and not gone through NEARLY as much punishment as Cameron, Haleigh, Morgan (who in the beginning was the bitch everyone loved to hate) , Alison etc. EVERY CHARACTER is at risk.
B) Having a character with high level physical power doesnt mean he has to be a bull in a china shop, or be an obonxious oaf, OR solve his personal issues/conflicts with balatant use of his powers against another character who has no psi screen and has no way to anticipate meeting telekinetic manipulation. you can't just go through a post negating everything sent your way. it's not fair. Just because Alison is a precog doesnt mean she's STOPPED/AVOIDED every attack sent her way NOR has she been shown to use her precognition to solve all her problems which is what Nicolas tends to do sometimes with his TK.
C) Did you REALLY need to get nasty like this? THIS is why Vil doesnt say MORE. THIS is why she sometimes doesnt post in the game more....because she's either uncertain what to do or if it'd even be RECEIVED. A player cant even express herself and it builds up to things like THIS. She's a long time friend of mine and she's a GREAT rpg'er, but let HER tell it, she's NOT...and when she FINALLY starts to feel like she's doing something with her character, you took that from her and you get mad at her for TELLING you that? That's the sort of crap i wouldve expected from someone on MD, Garrick...not from you. Delilah is a vital part of this team's cast and you KNOW that we ALL are glad to have YOU (and your character ) here too. I asked you to join us and i was HAPPY you accepted. each of us has said that to you before, youve got the rep. marks to proove it too. I just told you the other day, without Nicolas, im not sure where the Six would have GONE with several storylines. So why did you just go and try to make her feel like shit for saying how she felt? that just wasnt right.
From the very beginning, you kept talking about "how powerfull" the characters in this game were. the freedom they had to use those powers. that was something you and DDD couldnt seem to get past, i guess because of h ow you guys did things in RPG's on MD, which were VERY rigid and micromanaged. We dont do it like that here. AND as i've told you before, there's NO COMPETITION here.
Yes, all the characters, by description ARE very powerfull BUT they are also very VULNERABLE when it comes to personal situations and they all have exploitable weaknesses. NO ONE ELSE is afraid to have their character humiliated or "tested", but YOU always want to resist that. You came into the game wanting to compete with MALICE and HARBINGER because Nicolas power set was similar to theirs and from the beginning that caused problems because Nicolas wasnt SUPPOSED to be "competing" or trying to "match" anyone, he was supposed to bring what he could to the group.
You mentioned that he 'lost much of his telepathic powers'...well VIL had nothing to do with that. nor did anyone ELSE. THAT was something that y ou and I worked on and i THOUGHT we had worked on it to a way that you were okay with. We talked about what could/should be changed. I asked you what you wanted him to have/keep and we agreed on that, so why did you bring that up to HER like she had something to do with it?
I see this conversation is in danger of degenerating but im TRYING to keep it on the proper level but that means YOU and EVERBODY ELSE is going to have to understand that NO CHARACTER IN THIS GAME IS ALL POWERFULL AND THERE'S NO COMPETITION, NO NEED TO BE OBNOXIOUS ABOUT THE USE OF THE POWERS. AND, EVERY PLAYER HERE DESREVES TO BE HERE. NO ONE SHOULD BE FEEILNG LIKE THEY ARENT GOOD ENOUGH. THAT has upset me know that i've learned of it.
We all have powerfull characters...but that's not the focus for us and none of us has gotten CRAZY with that and that's one of the reasons why the game works so well...OKAY!? Let's STOP letting EGOS get in the way and get to the ROOT of the matter which is simply....NICOLAS needs to be LESS HEAVY HANDED IN SOME OF HIS ACTIONS IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS...NOT because ANY PARTICULAR PLAYER "WANTS IT THAT WAY"...BUT BECAUSE IT MAKES SENSE. THAT DOESNT MEAN THAT HE WILL BE FOREVER A "DOORMAT" TO THE WOMEN OF THE TEAM EITHER.

Let's see, since Nicolas joined, he has nearly died at least once outright (last arc), had a stroke nearly died and lost much of his offensive telepathic powers, had his skin nearly burned off once or twice (?)...I'm sure I'm missing some other things. It's not like Nicolas hasn't taken his lumps overall, at least as many as Delilah since he joined. As for him being Mr. Big Bad Man, you tell me: what is it supposed to be? He has Class 100 Strength but isn't REALLY that strong? He has the durability that goes with that but screw it, I like the way this looks better so let's ignore that right now?As far as he rest you believe what you want, I don't give a damn. In fact do whatever you want, I don't care. Just let me know via PM or OOC when the bullshit is coming and I'll be ready, Vil. And it will be COOL. At least to you, and isn't that what's important?
