Instagram worth WHAT now?

I follow some friends, and some of the more known chefs, skateboarders and some of my fave celebs and interesting people, also some accounts i follow for the lols, basically if i find it interesting, or if i can laugh at your posts.
I rarely post, i am forever the lurker.
 
I don't understand how stuff like this works.
How can it possible be worth that much?
It's just beyond my understanding.

I've no Instagram account myself.
Taking pictures isn't anything that comes natural to me so I've no use for it since I have nothing to share there.
Perhaps it's worth it to see other peoples pictures. I'm not sure. But so far I haven't feel the need.

instagram is just a little self-curated collage of stuff you like or people you know so I understand the popularity but I'm lost on how its being monetized cause a few ads can't possibly get to that price tag

I use it basically to take selfies lol. But I like all the filters for photos and I follow certain artists I like and a lot of drag queens. It's basically Twitter in pictures
 
Yeah, I pretty much use it for documenting stuff I like or am doing that I want to share with people. And selfies lol. So basically it is like twitter with pictures. I use mine pretty frequently, and I follow a lot of friends and celebrities that I like. Also some fitness people that give me inspiration.
