Delilah barely listened to his excuses. That was all the Six ever gave her: excuses.
“He shouldn’t have even been OUTSIDE, Nicolas. I should have known better than to trust any of you again.”
Delilah glanced from Nicolas to Dominique and back again. She shook her head.
“I can’t be here. We know where Cameron is and I am going to go get him back. He’s been with those monsters too long already.”
She made for the door. Cameron had been the hostage too many times. She had promised him never again. That she would protect him. And she had failed. She didn’t even know why she had cared if Dominique was arrested or not. And for that he was gone. All she knew now was that she couldn’t depend on the Six anymore.
Nicolas said:I knew of Aunt D's involvement in hunting the Purifiers and that it made her a target as well. I went with Cam and a few others to see her rehearsal and talk about things when your friends in New York's finest decided to make us choose between letting her go with THEM and having a brawl. In the aftermath of that we were hit with a missile while riding down the street while another missile killed 41 children. As we pulled ourselves from the wreckage they came for him. I killed everything that came through the portal, but something reached partway through and grabbed him, something that should not even EXIST here. It cannot be...HERE.
