Conditions in Apple Plants horrible, deadly

This is ONE GREAT REASON why I never plan to own an Apple product.

The gist is that Apple has manipulated the game to a degree that safety can barely be monitored by outside groups. That, combined with a reluctance to concede even a dollar in profit has led to conditions that are horrible to its workers at best, deadly at worst.

honestly conditions are like that because they can get away with it, There are almost no laws in China that protect factory workers in any way. They're practically slaves and the system is stacked against them.

The sad part is that companies, allows this, you would think a big corpooration like Apple could do something and invest some of the profits into securing workplaces and making sure no one gets taken advantage of.

I was listening to a report about this very this morning on NPR.

They talked about how these factories are like CITIES unto themselves w/ 1000's of employees & they include dormataries, banks, medical facilities & more in order to ensure near 24/7 production.

Another thing that was surprising is that a growing majority of these factory workers (particularly the one highlighted in China which is the largest offshort manufacturer for things like IPADs etc in the WORLD) are WOMEN.

Apple supposedly "does a good job" monitoring the conditions of these factories but they impose their OWN "standards" & while they've fired some smaller suppliers for violations in the past, the one in China the article focused in on could do just about ANYTHING & would NOT be @ risk of any meaningful scrutiny.

The outcome would be that ppl "wouldn't have access to ipods etc" for 2-3 years while Apple was forced to change their methods including doing something as "costly" as returning manufacturing back to american soil where regulations would not allow workers to be abused, paid as cheaply as they are overseas.

but ppl in general arent aware of this or don't care. all they want is their latest ipod, ipad etc.
