Not sure how I feel about this one, but Gail Simone has said that Batgirl #1 will be Barbara Gordon as Batgirl. I LOVE Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, and I love Babs as Oracle. I trust Gail Simone and everything but I'm not sure I like this reboot thing.

i really have no idea what DC is doing with some of this relaunch, Oracle was Barbra at her best and her role for the last 20 yrs. This sounds a bit foolish to me

I am a fan of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl...I am old, sue me.

It was just cruel to cripple her IMO, and doubly so when Batman recovered in less than a year from the same fate.

The Killing Joke is awesome though and added a total other dimension to the character. It's just a further extension of the Batverse SOP - that regular people defeat the bad guys using their intellect not any "magic powers". Barbara is in a chair yes, but that isn't a handicap for her.

I agree that it did give a cool dimension and it is a testament to BG that she was useful, indeed a critical important assest post-incident, but as Oracle she was also a major risk that required some resources to keep safe. At some pont her staying safe and anonymous defies logic and I think they might have felt the need to address that.

She has proven that she can still whip ass from her chair, at no point was she ever in real danger either mostly because her fights tend to be long distance battles through proxies like the Birds of Prey and her other operatives

Agreed you two...but how long can that last?

I am glad to see her out of the chair...one compromise would have been a new name, or even her up an at 'em as Oracle. But I am glad to see her walk and be Batgirl again.
