A Weekend Affair # 4 - The Black Gala

Hellfire -- The Conservatory

They came straight from the show to the Black Gala, and were announced to a party already well under way. They decided on drinks first to get their bearings on the Gala, and headed towards the bar. On the way, the American Red Queen called for them from the busy dance floor.

Juliette diverted immediately, with Liam in tow, and they picked their way through dancers to join in next to Ashley. Juliette smiled, her dark eyes bright with joy as she answered Ash's question about the ballet.

"Crea-teeve chore-ogra-phee, mahstairful technique, it vas all quite vondairful."

Liam: Meh. It was good. Juliette would've put them all to shame.

Juliette trilled a flattered laugh.

"Stahp..."

She said, as they continued to dance. He smiled at her, and for a while Ash and AJ were talking to each other, so Juliette smiled back up at Liam, her hands sliding up to his shoulders.

"Dzank you for tonight, My King."

Liam: You are quite welcome, My Queen.

He said warmly, and then his expression changed.

Liam: Oh great. Here comes the other White King to resume trying to sweep you off your feet.

"Jealous? Vould you like to join us?"

Liam: Pass. But perhaps I'll entertain his wife.

"Perhaps not. 'is vife ees running off vit dze Red King."

Juliette replied, as Liam turned them so that they were sideways to Cameron's approach, and could both see him. Juliette smiled, but Cameron's sister swooped in to drag him away again.

Liam: He seemed upset, right?

Savage: Very much so...

Hellfire -- The Conservatory

John: And he asks for too much.

Haleigh nodded in reluctant agreement. Cameron had been reaching very far today, and it was clear he was going behind her back. She was concerned about what he wanted with Ava, and her worry was compounded when he scrambled the monitoring devices in Ava's office.

He was so secretive lately. He'd scrambled the tech in his own office as well, and from the way he talked had clearly been scheming behind her back, which was NEVER something he'd done before. At breakfast he'd seemed his normal self, but by lunch he'd gone so far past normal that she hardly knew how to wrap her head around it, let alone try to bring him back to the realm of reason. She sent Zach to watch his back, and hopefully calm him down if needed.

They walked the rest of the way to the Gala in silence, with Haleigh consumed in thought. Thankfully John didn't seem to mind, nor did he feel it necessary to fill the break in conversation with meaningless chatter. When they reached the party, Haleigh asked John to distract Brienne while she spoke with Alek.

John: You'll regret it later.

"I'm sure I will."

She replied with a weak smile that melted almost right away.

John: But happy to help. But Haleigh-

She looked up at him.

John: If you need anything, just ask. You know you have Ava and my support.

"I appreciate it, John. My children and I may need your protection soon."

She said, and it felt surreal. They made their way over to Brienne and Alek. Brienne tried to brush her off, which almost made Haleigh punch her, but Alek saved Brienne from grave bodily injury when he agreed, and John did his part to help the separation occur. Alek asked playfully if they should go to her place or his, but Haleigh was too alarmed by the arrival of Cameron, so soon.

"I don't care, let's just get the fuck out of here!"

She said quietly, pushing him in the opposite direction of Cameron about as fast as she could without causing a scene. She watched Cameron as they left. He didn't come after them, he went for Ashley, AJ, Juliette and Liam. Was he collecting allies? How quickly could he convince the others to side with him over Alek?

By the time she got him into an empty room, she thought she might explode from the tension. Her hands were shaking, her heart was thudding. It was more than just her concern that Cameron had gone as crazy as the rest of the King family, and was plotting to attack them both. She turned to Alek and for once, didn't know how to say what she needed to tell him. He was going to be angry, as angry as her husband, that he was subject to this now. That he would have to deal with so much shit because she'd made this miscalculation. She was going to lose them both, all because she'd tried to give Cameron something she wasn't designed to be capable of giving. The other Queens had warned her of her mistake, but for the first time she realized the gravity of her choice to take Kelly's deal, and it was all too late to change her mind.

She looked up at Alek, into blue eyes that she knew were going to be filled with resentment from here on. No more teddy bears, no more smiles, no more fun fucking in between the chores of running Hellfire that everybody else left for them to do while they were out running their glamorous family-owned companies. She was going to get the same contempt he usually reserved for Ashley, and she found she wasn't ready for it. She reached up for him, pulling him down into one last kiss. And then as she pulled away, she took a deep breath and sighed. Might as well get it over with, it wasn't getting any easier.

"So I already told you I'm having a boy with Cameron. And now, evidently.... I am also pregnant with a girl."

She told his chest, and then she swallowed hard, and made herself look up at him again.

"Yours."

She managed to whisper.

The Black Gala

He knew Brienne would take offense at being left, but Haleigh didn't make a habit of asking for secretive meetings for no reason, so he knew it was important. And he wasn't about to blow her off. He would just have to make it up to Brienne later. He playfully asked her where she wanted to go, because maybe she was having hormonal overload and needed his dick right now. Which he would be happy to oblige.

Haleigh: "I don't care, let's just get the fuck out of here!"

He wasn't used to seeing her so frantic. She practically picked him up and ran with him out of the conservatory. When they were alone in a room nearby, he saw that her hands were shaking. He could hear her heartbeat in her chest. He looked at her askance, now starting to get worried.

"Hales. What is wrong with you?"

She was just standing there, staring at him.

"Am I dying or something?"

And then he got really worried. He took a step towards her.

"Is something wrong with you?"

He would kill Cameron if she got hurt in any way as a result of this. Messing with things he shouldn't have. Selling Haleigh's soul to the literal devil.

She reached for him and kissed him, a feeling he couldn't get enough of now that she'd finally shared it with him. His arms circled around her waist, and when she pulled back she was just looking at him again, like a frightened deer.

"Hey."

He reached up and touched her chin.

"Whatever it is, you can tell me."

Haleigh: "So I already told you I'm having a boy with Cameron. And now, evidently....I am also pregnant with a girl."

Ohhhh...she was just freaking out at the thought of two children at once. He almost started to chuckle. Nothing in this world scared Haleigh Davidoff, except diapers. He opened his mouth to comfort her, but she wasn't done speaking.

Haleigh: "Yours."

He stopped in mid motion, inclining his head towards her as if he might not have heard her properly. His eyes widened, looking straight at her.

"Did you just say...mine?"

He looked down between them, at her nonexistent baby bump.

"How is that even possible? Are you sure?"

And then, he found himself filled with nothing but pure joy. He sank down to his knees, his hands gently going to her stomach. He looked up at her.

"A girl? A little girl?'

He pressed his lips against her stomach, wrapping his arms around her in a hug. She was going to have his baby.

"I don't know what to say, Haleigh - this is wonderful."

Nothing. No word from Archer, no indication that he was even alive. The fucking man ghosted her like a bad Tinder date and she was pissed. Not only did she get kicked to the curb by the Red King, she was getting kicked to the curb by her OWN King.

"UGH."

Stuffing her phone back into her pants pocket, Brienne scanned the party to see Cameron and Erika sitting in a corner booth having a rather serious conversation. Her amethyst ring began to glow as she reached out with her minds eye to figure out what had the White King so upset. Was he crying? Oh fuck, this was going to be good. But as Brienne reached the booth, it was like she was hitting a glass wall; an invisible bubble preventing her from hear.

"Fucking Erika."

Brienne narrowed her eyes knowing Erika was using her magick to buffer their conversation. So, the newly crowned White Princess wanted to keep secrets? Brienne was pretty certain this had to do with why Haleigh drug Alek away, and she was pretty damn sure Erika wouldn't be protecting their conversation. So Brienne leaned against the wall with her shoulder casually, looking as if she was enjoying the music. She reached out to find Haleigh and Alek, whom had both left the conservatory to speak in private. She could see them in the room, like she were 'floating' above them. Alek asked Haleigh what was wrong before Haleigh quite literally dropped a bigger bomb than Kelly King marrying Stavros Cassadine.

Haleigh: "So I already told you I'm having a boy with Cameron. And now, evidently....I am also pregnant with a girl. Yours."

She heard in her head, Brienne's eyes widening.

"Holy shit."

She coughed out loud, pushing herself off the wall. She watched as Alek dropped to his knees kissing Haleigh's stomach, proclaiming his happiness and Brienne knew that whatever they had was over. He would forever be the White Queen's and it was her own damn fault. She put this in motion. She heightened their emotions in the woods. Had she not, maybe Haleigh would have stopped herself from fucking Alek. Probably not, but still...Brienne felt sick to her stomach. In the moment, she was pissed off at Archer for causing so many issues. For dragging her to America to play nice when all he was doing was building an army of enemies. For painting HER with a bullseye because she was his Queen. So she rebelled and decided to fuck with the Americans for sport. But fucking hell, she didn't think the bitch would get pregnant TWICE by two different men. This was beyond even the lengths Brienne was willing to go.

Walking through the dance floor, she headed for the doors of the conservatory and down to the Black Wing. Grabbing her phone once again, Archer would have to deal with whatever bullshit he caused because Brienne was leaving.

"I need the jet fueled and ready within the next half hour."

Entering her suit, she grabbed her suitcase by the front closet.

"No, Mr. Fairchild will not be joining me. I'll be flying home alone."

Hanging up the phone, Brienne began to pack.

Hellfire -- The Drawing Room

Alek: Hales. What is wrong with you? Am I dying or something? Is something wrong with you?

For once she was at a loss of words. She had no idea how she was going to negotiate this. The original plan was FUBAR and her mind raced with thoughts. She kissed him, while he was still being nice, because she figured that was going to end very soon.

Alek: Hey. Whatever it is, you can tell me.

The air left her lungs like a balloon that had been popped. She managed to tell him, barely.

Alek: Did you just say...mine?

She nodded silently, no longer sure she could trust her own voice.

Alek: How is that even possible? Are you sure?

He wasn't mad, but clearly he didn't quite believe it yet. She had time to explain, maybe that would help mitigate his temper. She cleared her throat.

"I'm sorry, Alek. I've run the tests five times already. They all come back the same now. At the Red Hunt.... I was already pregnant, I thought we'd be safe. Women aren't supposed to ovulate more than once a cycle, and certainly not after conception. I mean, it can happen, but it's so statistically improbable--"

She stopped in mid-sentence when he knelt down. He touched her stomach, and her hands went to his. She was ready to push his hands away, to knee him in the face if she had too, but she realized quite suddenly that he was the opposite of mad. He was looking up at her, asking her to confirm it was a little girl, and then he kissed her belly. Haleigh's jaw dropped open as she stared down at him, hugging her happily.

Alek: I don't know what to say, Haleigh - this is wonderful.

"Wonderful? You're... not angry? You're not freaking the fuck out?? Because I AM."

She said, with first confusion and then concern. It was relieving, that he wasn't upset, and if she wasn't so worried, she might've enjoyed the moment, as it was something much closer to what she'd expected to share with Cameron earlier, before he'd turned into Mr. Hyde. Speaking of Hyde...

"Cameron's PISSED. We had a MASSIVE fight earlier, and now he won't even look at me.... I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to kill all three of us. He's probably gonna... I don't know, telekinetically extract his son and stick him in a surrogate so he can go weapons free on you, me and... our daughter... Or he'll play it cool, wait until his son can survive outside the womb, then try to kill us."

No doubt by THEN Cameron's plans to be rid of Alek would have come to fruition, whatever they were. Haleigh was torn... should she tell Alek about the plot? She didn't want to betray her husband's confidence, but he posed a threat now to the father of her other child. Haleigh was under no illusion that Cameron would raise the girl as his own. She didn't want her daughter to grow up without a father figure, like she had.

The Drawing Room

He was in awe. His baby - his daughter - was growing inside of Haleigh. That twinge of hope he had felt earlier when she had told him she was pregnant, and he had thought there might be a chance it was his, was now magnified times a thousand. He felt closer to her than he ever had before. He didn't know what to say, what he was supposed to say, so he just said what he was feeling, that it was wonderful.

Haleigh: "Wonderful? You're... not angry? You're not freaking the fuck out?? Because I AM."

He gave her a look like she might be a bit crazy, and stood up, letting his hands settle on her back protectively.

"Why would I be angry, Haleigh? There's no one I'd rather carry my baby, than my best friend. I know it's a little bit strange, but in the end, it's a miracle. For both of us."

When they had talked earlier about whether he wanted kids, he had known he would never find someone else that he would want to have a child with, and expected never to have any. But now, it was happening.

His fingertips grazed her stomach again.

"And now there's two of them in there."

He was thoughtful.

"That's good: they'll always have each other."

Haleigh: "Cameron's PISSED.

Alek's eyes narrowed, his face growing stormy. Fuck Cameron King. What kind of asshole takes something like this out on a baby?

"If he would do that to you, he can't love you at all."

He reached up and stroked her hair, speaking with more urgency now that the implications of what had happened were starting to come to him.

"We should get you away from here. Somewhere he can't find you. At least until the babies are born..."

He leaned down and kissed her forehead before whispering to her.

"I'll kill him if he hurts you or your children. I swear I will."

The Black Gala

Steel could tell Haleigh was troubled, and he did the only thing he could think of to do, which was offer his support to her.

Haleigh: "I appreciate it, John. My children and I may need your protection soon."

Children? Slip of the tongue? Crazy clone thing? Planning ahead? John wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know the answer. And then he was trying to charm Brienne so that Haleigh could whisk Alek away. Which seemed to be working okay. Ava arrived at his side, and it made him happier than he would care to admit that she and Cameron hadn't been long.

The London Black Queen was getting a little handsy, and looking at him the way he looked at a steak. He wished someone would turn up the air, because suddenly it was very warm. He fiddled with his collar.

Brienne: "Well....unless you're offering to take me back to your room so you can have a Black Queen sandwich--"

Steel gulped visibly. Ava grabbed Brienne's hand in a move that he could only describe as jealous, and for the second time he felt bad that that pleased him. Brienne made her exit, leaving him alone with Ava.

Ava: "I swear to God if she touches you again...The Europeans will be without a Black King AND Queen."

He pulled her in closer to him with a grin, nuzzling her neck.

"Now, babe, you know I only have eyes for you..."

He pulled back to smile at her, sliding his arms further around her.

"How about that dance now, huh?"

But Ava's face was more serious than he expected, and she was gripping his arm, body tense.

Ava: "We have a problem."

Her lips moved near to his ear.

Ava: "Cameron's set on getting rid of Alek, by any means necessary."

"Oh fuck me."

This was a headache they didn't need. Why couldn't Cameron just work it out with his wife like normal people? Or, I don't know, not have an open marriage?

Ava: "He all but told me to choose a side."

"Shit, what do we do in-"

Suddenly there were voices in his ear, but not the kind you would expect to hear over the com.

>>>>Archer [over com]:
"We didn't clue you in on the rebellion because you weren't worthy of sitting at the table. And anybody with two eyes will see, especially watching you ditch your colors like they were nothing, just how duplicitous you are."

"...that situation...?"

>>>>Daniel [over com]:
"You didn't clue me in because you didn't want me as competition, Archer. And duplicitous?! Perhaps you should put down the cocaine and pick up a book. If anybody was loyal to their court, it was ME. I wore red PROUDLY. Until the lot of you tainted, turned it into something unrecognizable. Something so OPPOSITE of what it meant to wear Red. I didn't DITCH my colors, they were taken from me."

He looked around him, trying to see if the voices' owners were in the room.

Ava: "What is it? What's wrong?"

John whispered to her.

"Daniel. And Archer."

>>>>Archer [over com]: "Tell me, were you in on the plan to take my business? Did you HELP them to secure yourself a spot? Or WORSE? Did you know something was going on and remained SILENT?"

"He's accusing Daniel of knowing what was going to happen and not telling him."

>>>>Daniel [over com]: "Don't flatter yourself. Like anyone would need HELP to take you down. You basically BEG for people to come at you. You get OFF on it. I have no idea who stole your company, but I do know one thing, if you were DUMB enough to let it happen, you deserved it. You were the one who wanted to be King, remember? Well that comes with responsibility. It comes with a PRICE. If you weren't willing to pay it, you should have never stepped into the ring. I turned black because I believe in it's leadership. Because I can stand behind their vision of Hellfire. I don't need to sink to such depths in order to get what I want. And it's LAUGHABLE that you would even confront me like this, considering the fact that you had the opportunity to bring me into the fold, and you didn't. So can you really blame if I had?"

"Daniel played dumb."

He kept listening intently.

"Sounds like they're about to fight."

He heard sounds of a scuffle, like someone being punched, and Archer's voice.

>>>>Archer [over com]: "Now go hide behind your bitch of a Queen's skirt and leave me be."

"Oh, that little motherfucker."

He looked at Ava, but didn't repeat what Archer had said.

>>>>Daniel [over com]: "Archer? Go fuck yourself."

There were more sounds of fighting, and then Daniel's voice this time.

>>>>Daniel [over com]: "You know it's funny, I always pictured the scenario of me having a handful of your hair in my hand very differently, but we plan and God laughs, right?"

Steel rolled his eyes, and then there was a break in the barbs, and more sounds of violence. Then there was some undistinguishable noise, before Daniel came on again, talking directly to him this time.

>>>>Daniel: [to John] "Your majesty..The White Queen tasked me with keeping Archer from his allies and home court. While I was successful, he was highly aggressive..and the situation required escalated protocol. He's locked in a janitor's closet, a good three floors from the party. He is stable, but unconscious. I need to know how to proceed."

He turned to Ava, his mouth open a little wider than it needed to be.

"I think Daniel might have just kicked the shit out of the Black King."

[to Daniel] "Get him to his bed. And for fuck's sake, don't let anyone see you."

He leaned in to Ava, his voice low.

"Archer is unconscious in a janitor's closet. Want me to have pictures taken?"

The corner of John's mouth turned up in amusement.

"It seems our court is having a spot of trouble with diplomacy today..."

Hellfire Club – Black Gala

:: Cass arrived at the bar, with Damien in tow, and they both congratulated Ben on his new title. Damien ordered some crisps as well as a beer. ::

Ben: "Thanks, Cassie. It'll take some getting used to, but I'm excited."

:: Ben was quite receptive and he was being friendly. Mandy had said that something had been going on with him. Maybe he had already dealt with it? Still, Cass felt safe with Damien by her side to move to the stool right beside Ben. She hooked her arm around his neck and gave him a small hug. ::

“I have no doubt that it won’t be long until you’re used to it.”

Ben: [to Damien] "And thanks, man. I don't think we've met. Benjamin Lewis - Black Rook."

“Oh, I’m sorry, Ben! I just assumed that Bretta had already introduced you guys back when you all were at the booth there. This is Damien McAllister, the European Red Rook.”

[Damien stretched out an arm behind Cass and clapped Ben on the back.]

Damien: “Nice to meet you, mate.”

Ben: "Nice of the Red Court to make a show, especially at the Black Gala. It means a lot to our court that you've chosen to attend..and sends a strong signal that the Red Court might have quite a future with the Black Court?"

Damien: “Yes, that is what Bretta is hoping for. Our Queen has been very impressed by you King and Queen, and she’s hopeful that a strong working relationship, as well as a strong friendship, is on the horizon. It doesn’t hurt, however, that our Princess has deep friendships with both you and Amanda Soto.”

:: And with that, it lead to a very unexpected statement from Ben; a statement that mortified Cass. ::

Ben: "We're practically eskimo brothers at this point. It just makes sense."

!!!

*flustered*: “I...He...We’re...”

:: She couldn’t believe that Ben just said that. She and Damien had just met: they hadn’t even been on a date yet, let alone KISSED. She hadn’t even been thinking about sex. She was just enjoying getting to know Damien. She couldn’t bring herself to even look at Damien. He, meanwhile, was chuckling as he took a drink of his beer. ::

Damien: [chuckling] “At least she has a type.”

:: Cass turned to Damien, an unamused expression on her face. ::

“It’s not funny.”

Damien: *amused*: “It kind of is, love.” [looking at Ben] “However, we haven’t reached that part yet.” *wickedly*: “Got any tips? She looks to be the kind of girl who likes it on the bottom.”

:: Cass groaned and closed her eyes. She rested her elbows on the bar, her hands holding her head. ::

*mutters*: “Oh god...

Ben: "I'll miss you, but I'm glad you took this opportunity. Red looks good on you, Cass."

:: A change of subject. Thank heavens. Cass could feel herself getting misty-eyed but she blinked back those tears rapidly. She got up and, wrapping both her arms around his waist, gave him a tender hug, resting her head against the side of his neck for a moment. ::

*tenderly*: “I’ll miss you too, Ben.”

:: She let him go and looked up into his face, a questioning expression on hers. ::

*hesitantly*: “Could we meet sometime tomorrow so we could talk? Please Ben? It’s really important, and it would mean a lot to me.”

:: She had told Mandy to tell him what she had told her but now that Ben was acting all calm and friendly, Cass felt that she, herself, could tell him her side of what had happened. She sat back down as Damien leaned across her. ::

Damien: “So, mate? Got any stories about our Cassandra here? I’m eager to hear some stories of what she was like on the Black Court.”

The Black Gala

Ashley flitted between Bretta and Juliette, taking time out to dance close with AJ in between. He turned her so she could see Cameron coming towards her, looking...dark. She heard Liam tell Juliette he would pass on a threesome with the other White King, as Erika appeared and hijacked her brother. Ashley shrugged, happy to not have to get yelled at for not feeding Alek the fake story about Archer yet. Instead, she laughed at Liam, conspiring with his Queen.

"Of course, every man wants to be with two women, but ask a man to share with another man? You'd think we were asking them to become eunuchs."

She ran a hand through her hair, damp with sweat from the heat of the dancefloor. The tempo of the music lowered, and Ashley made eyes at Savage as she moved closer to him, mischief in her smile. She stood on her toes to kiss his cheek.

"All this dancing has made me suddenly very tired."

She looked from one queen to the other.

"Enjoy yourselves, darlings!"

She gave AJ a smoldering look as she took his hand and led him off the dancefloor and out of the conservatory. Once they were in the hall, she pulled his arm around her shoulders, and leaned her head against him as they walked to the Red Wing.

"Call the kitchen and have them send up whatever you're hungry for."

She pressed her lips against the hand she still held, smiling contentedly as they made their way into the elevator, and down to the residential floors. It wasn't too long before they were coming through the door to her suite. She kicked off her shoes and moved into the center of the room. The staff had as usual lit the fireplaces in the living room and bedroom, and candles lit the rest of the suite. She dropped his hand and slipped out from under his arm, pulling down the zipper of her dress and letting it drop to the floor. Then she turned to face Savage.

"As promised."

She stepped forward, pushing his vest off his shoulders, pulling his tee up over his head. Her hands found either side of his chest as her lips pressed against the center. Then she pushed off of him, walking backwards for a few steps, but holding his gaze.

"I'll get you a beer."

She turned and slinked into the kitchen, returning with an open bottle in her hand. She pressed the cool glass against her neck, and as she reached him, raised it to her lips and took a sip before offering it to him.

Brienne was taking her flirting too far, grumbling that the Europeans would be short a King and Queen if she didn't stop. John grinned happily, like he was pleased to see her jealous. She smiled despite herself, rolling her eyes in jest as he nuzzled her neck.

John: "Now, babe, you know I only have eyes for you..."

"Uh huh."

John was loving this and Ava couldn't help but chuckle. But her smile faded as well as the levity of the situation as she spotted Erika and Cameron talking. Ava's face became more serious as she clued John into exactly what happened between her and Cameron. He wanted Alek gone by any means necessary, and he was asking Ava to choose a side.

John: "Oh fuck me."

Ava's sentiments exactly. Though she wished the situation weren't so serious otherwise she'd joke about fucking him later.

"He all but asked me to choose a side."

John: "Shit, what do we do in--..that situation...?"

Then Ava heard the sound of John's com link go on causing her to pull back and look up at him, questioning if everything was okay. John's face was filled with concentration, looking as if he was trying to decipher what was going on.

"What's wrong?"

John: "Daniel. And Archer."

Ava's eyes narrowed.

John: "He's accusing Daniel of knowing what was going to happen and not telling him."

"What is Daniel saying?"

John was silent for a few moments, listening. Ava watched him with anticipation.

John: "Daniel played dumb."

Good. Not that Daniel knew anything anyway, but that didn't mean the former European Red Bishop wouldn't try to play both sides and smooth things over with his friend. But it seemed Daniel had not only put his loyalty with the American Black Court, but severed ties with Archer Fairchild as well.

John: "Sounds like they're about to fight."

"We should alert the Black Guard."

The last thing Ava wanted was for Daniel to get hurt because of her. Archer was HER enemy, not Daniel''s. He was new to her court, and though he had a history with Archer, from what she gathered it was a friendly one. If they were fighting it was because Archer was pissed off at what Ava stolen from him.

John: "Oh, that little motherfucker."

Ava's brows furrowed.

"What? What's happening?"

John didn't answer her, just looking at her as he continued to silently listen. As John continued to listen to the transmission Ava noticed over his shoulder that Erika was making her way over to them. Lifting up a single eyebrow questionably, she pulled back from John's arms a bit just as Erika leaned in and gave a cheek to cheek kiss to Ava. She smiled at the new White Princess to keep up pretenses, though the tone of her voice was slightly on edge.

"Erika.."

Erika: "I've talked him off the ledge...for now. But we have to get him alone with his wife."

Fuck. Well at least Erika was able to smooth things over with him for the time being. Ava nodded as she glanced over at Cameron.

"Good. Give me a moment."

Ava took John by the crook of the arm and lead him a few paces away from Erika.

John: "I think Daniel might have just kicked the shit out of the Black King."

"Remind me to send him a bottle of Dom."

John: [to Daniel] "Get him to his bed. And for fuck's sake, don't let anyone see you. [to Ava] Archer is unconscious in a janitor's closet. Want me to have pictures taken?"

She smirked, matching the one John gave her.

"Tempting, but we have other King's to worry about..."

John: "It seems our court is having a spot of trouble with diplomacy today..."

John gave Ava an amused smile. As much as she wanted to enjoy John's company, they did need to figure out what was going on with Cameron, Alek, and Haleigh. She looked up at him, her expression more serious now.

"It seems our court is the only one that's going to be left afloat if we don't get this Cameron situation under control."

She looked toward Erika who was waiting to speak with them. Hooking her arm with John's, Ava walked back over to Erika. Ava understood that Cameron was upset about Alek, but what she didn't quite understand was why Cameron was so strung out about his wife fucking the Red King all of a sudden. They had an open relationship for as long as she could remember, and if Haleigh becoming pregnant changed things? Then why couldn't Cameron just tell her to stop?

"What exactly is going on, Erika? Cameron basically stonewalled me and told me to choose between him and Alek. I don't understand why he's so upset suddenly? Is it because Haleigh's pregnant and now he's in protective daddy mode?"

Hellfire Mansion - The Black Gala - Conservatory

Ava: "Good. Give me a moment."

Erika listened as John relayed quite an interesting scene on the roof. Daniel Reed had knocked The Black King unconscious and locked him in a janitor's closet. Erika pursed her lips into a smile. She was happy to know that Daniel was already making a splash on The Black Court. As John finished his transmission with Ava, the two of them made their way over to The White Princess. She hesitated for a moment. She knew of John, but she didn't really know him, and she wasn't sure she felt comfortable speaking about her brother in front of a relative stranger, but she didn't really have the luxury of time, and John didn't appear to be a dubious person, though Erika knew better than anybody how deceiving appearances could be.

Ava: "What exactly is going on, Erika? Cameron basically stonewalled me and told me to choose between him and Alek. I don't understand why he's so upset suddenly? Is it because Haleigh's pregnant and now he's in protective daddy mode?"

She furrowed her brow.

"That's likely part of it. He's always been territorial...but..."

Erika paused for a moment. How the hell was she going to explain something like this? It didn't even make sense to her and she was a psychiatrist who had gone to med school.

"I don't really know how to put this delicately or cleverly..but it appears Haleigh, in true Haleigh fashion isn't just pregnant with Cameron's baby..she's pregnant with Alek's as well.."

She searched her brain for the information she was looking for, dusting off the part of her brain that contained everything she had learned in residency.

"It's call heteropaternal superfecundation...I think. It's very rare in humans...but it happens quite frequently in cats and dogs.."

"Which makes sense considering Haleigh is a bitch."

She was trying not to be angry for her brother. Haleigh was the Queen, and regardless of his feelings on the matter, one of those babies was her nephew, and she felt compelled to help.

"Or maybe it's superfetation, which would be better...because the former would mean that Alek and Cameron's children are fraternal twins. Honestly just google it when you get back to your room, I'm a little rusty. It's all very confusing, and trust me as soon as we stop Cameron from rampaging I intend to get to the bottom of it."

She watched from across the conservatory to see the sulking form of her brother still in the booth as she shot her glance back towards Ava and John.

"So basically, Cameron, who was already becoming jealous of Alek, has found out that the gift his wife got, specifically for him, has been given to another man as well. Again, a man he's jealous of. This is deeper than just jealousy now. I won't hide from it, but our family is a particularly...proud bunch of people. He's worried this whole thing is going to destroy him. He says if he gets rid of Alek, Haleigh will hate him..if he does nothing, the entire Inner Circle is going to look at him like he's...well a pussy, letting some other man have a baby with his wife while pretending it doesn't bother him. The whole open relationship was one thing, but a baby with another man is a different story altogether, especially if that man is Alek."

Erika grabbed a flute of hemlock passing by and took a long sip, hoping to counteract the efffects of the absinthe she had earlier, especially since John and Ava's faces were changing colors in front of her, though she had found that in this state she was a lot more medically proficient. Ironic.

"I told him he needs to talk to Haleigh, but as you can see...Haleigh's not making it any easier. I get that she wants to protect Alek, and that it looks like Cameron is about to kill him, but come on - she's definitely not making this any easier on herself. She knows her husband knows and the person she confides in about it, before anybody else is The Red King, the man my brother hates. If this nonsense doesn't stop, it's going to blow up in ALL of our faces, and the fact that he told ME out of all people about this, means he is already feeling very desperate, and when Cameron feels backed into a corner, he either runs or he kills."

The White Princess gestured to the slight shadows of Alek and Haleigh far across the distance of the conservatory.

"We need to separate Alek and Haleigh and get her to her husband. And by the looks of it, she might have told Alek what's going on, which means he's going to be Alek and try and be some kind of Hallmark Movie Romantic Lead, or he's going to want to attack Cameron in the name of protecting his 'baby'. It's gonna be a shit show of testosterone."

[she looked at them both]

"So who wants to make the first move?"

Ava was still at a loss as to why Cameron was so upset considering he spent the better part of his relationship with Haleigh fucking other woman while she fucked other men. Ava guessed it was now because Haleigh was pregnant, but couldn't he just talk to his wife instead of staging World War three? Obviously Erika knew something so Ava got straight to the point and asked.

Erika: "That's likely part of it. He's always been territorial...but...I don't really know how to put this delicately or cleverly..but it appears Haleigh, in true Haleigh fashion isn't just pregnant with Cameron's baby..she's pregnant with Alek's as well.."

She wished she hadn't. Ava's face went pale as she inhaled a sharp breath at what Erika had just said, staring forward stunned by the news. Erika went on to talk medical terms but Ava heard none of it; the white princess just white noise in the background. Haleigh had gotten pregnant by Cameron and Alek. She couldn't have children, and now she had two with two separate men....two King's. Not only was there a White heir, but now a Red heir. Ava's arm went lax against John's as she exhaled out, realizing she hadn't taken a breath since Erika broke the news.

Erika: "So basically, Cameron, who was already becoming jealous of Alek, has found out that the gift his wife got, specifically for him, has been given to another man as well. Again, a man he's jealous of. This is deeper than just jealousy now. I won't hide from it, but our family is a particularly...proud bunch of people. He's worried this whole thing is going to destroy him."

Now it made perfect sense as to why Cameron was so cold to her earlier. Why he was adamant that she choose to help him exile Alek to Europe or kill him. But there was no way in hell Alek would leave now. He had stock in the Red Court before, and love in his heart for Haleigh, but with a child thrown into the mix? It was going to be a blood bath between Red and Black Kings. Ava scoffed out in disbelief, shaking her head as she looked away from both John and Erika, feeling the burn behind her eyes that became all too familiar that evening. Haleigh literally just blew up everything they had built. How the FUCK were they supposed to fix something like this?

Erika: "He says if he gets rid of Alek, Haleigh will hate him..if he does nothing, the entire Inner Circle is going to look at him like he's...well a pussy, letting some other man have a baby with his wife while pretending it doesn't bother him. The whole open relationship was one thing, but a baby with another man is a different story altogether, especially if that man is Alek."

"Unbelievable...."

Her whisper barely audible off her lips; Ava's eyes still looking away from Erika but listening to everything she was saying. Haleigh was her friend. She looked at her as a sister, but now she could barely stomach the thought of looking at her at all.

Erika: "I told him he needs to talk to Haleigh, but as you can see...Haleigh's not making it any easier."

"Are you surprised?"

Ava's tone sharp as she finally looked back at Erika.

"Haleigh does what she wants, when she wants, FUCK everyone else and their feelings. She has her cake and gets to eat it too, all while standing in the rubble of the empire we built."

Ava could feel the rage building within her, shutting her eyes as she lowered her head to try and keep calm. Rage was good though, it kept her mind away from the pain that was simmering within her ready to explode.

Erika kept talking about needing to fix things and separating Haleigh and Alek. It was all completely pointless and a waste of time. Alek wasn't going to leave Haleigh's side knowing she was knocked up with his kid, and Haleigh didn't do anything Haleigh didn't want to do.

Erika: "So who wants to make the first move?"

Ava didn't say anything at first, her jaw tense as she finally looked back up at Erika.

"I'm not doing a damn thing."

She stated frank and close ended, leaving no room for arguments.

"Between your mother and my father? This night went to utter HELL. Add this into the mix? And it's the fucking cherry on top of a SHIT evening. I haven't got the energy to deal with this right now. To even.....THINK about how the Inner Circle is going to come out of this situation unscathed. Your King and Queen just blew up our legacy and now you're asking ME to help piece it back together?"

Ava shook her head and scoffed out.

"Fine. Here's a move."

Ava pulled away from John and pushed past Erika, moving across the dance floor towards Cameron who was sitting in one of the booths looking worse for the wear.

"Get your ass up, King."

Ava ordered.

"And stop acting like a barbaric asshole. Your wife is pregnant with YOUR child, that much is STILL true. And the more time you spend pushing her away because of the shitty situation you BOTH put yourself in by fucking other people during your marriage? The more you push her directly into Alek's arms."

Pointing toward the conservatory door where Haleigh and Alek had left.

"Stop plotting and start TALKING to her, Cameron. Before you not only lose your wife, but you destroy EVERYTHING we ALL built. This doesn't just effect y--"

Ava's voice cracked as she inhaled a sharp breath, her words cutting off in mid sentence. She could feel the tears fill her eyes and quickly looked away, pausing for a moment to steady her voice.

"This doesn't just effect you and Haleigh. How you decide to approach this...[looking back at him] effects ALL of us."

It was evident this news was hard on Ava despite her unwaveringly even expression. Her eyes conveyed enough. She wasn't blaming Cameron solely. She wasn't there to yell at him or make him feel like even more shit after this bombshell that had been dropped on him. She was taking a page out of John's book and giving him some tough love. He NEEDED to reevaluate how he approached Haleigh, because THAT would be what would decide how the rest of the situation played out. Was she pissed off at him? Yes. Was she pissed off at Haleigh? Yes. But the survival of the Inner Circle came first.

"It's unfair, for more than one reason. I'm sorry, Cameron, I am. But we need to figure this out with no blood spilt."

Finally Ava took a breath in, the air shaky as it entered her lungs: the first evidence that she was barely keeping it together. Her eyes were softer now, giving him a sympathetic look mixed with the pain that was finally overpowering the rage she felt. Walking away from the booth, Ava pushed through some shrubs toward a dark path that lead away from the party, tears once again threatening to fall. Grabbing onto a tree, she shut her eyes, trying to catch the panicked breaths that threaten to take over her. She had cried far too many times that night, she wouldn't let herself cry again.

She knew that Ava might not like the news, but she didn't think she'd take it this way. Erika remembered the night when Ava merged with Persephone. They all did - it was a night that none of the legacy children would forget. Persephone had broken through to this world, for reasons that Erika and the others were never quite filled in on. But when Diana, Kelly and Helena realized that Ava was somehow cosmically connected to the Goddess of The Underworld, they salivated like dogs at the chance to claim that power for themselves. All of the legacy children had gone through things at the hands of their parents that the others just would never be able to comprehend. Although every member of The Inner Circle had been put through the ringer, it was different when you were a teenage girl, and the people manipulating you were the women who raised you. It was why although their relationships had fractured and splintered throughout the years, there was still a unity among them. Erika was a witch, and because of that, she was a part of the ceremony that bonded Ava and Persephone. She watched as her mother stood over Ava with the Siege Perilous in her hand. She watched as Persephone tore through Ava with a wave of emotion and rage the likes of which she had never seen. It changed Erika, but more importantly, it changed Ava.

She was barely a woman and now she had the power and sentience of an centuries old Goddess coursing through her veins. Erika had watched a girl she grew up with all but lose a great deal of her humanity, and the rest of Erika's own adolescence was spent afraid, biding her time until her mother and the other Queens decided that it was time for Erika to lose hers. Ava had been somewhat of a tom boy as a girl, always hanging out with the horses and roaming Arklay, often with Ben in tow. After her transformation, she did these things, but it appeared her heart wasn't in it. She had the burden and guilt of an incredibly mature woman inside of her. For as much as Erika had gone through at the hands of her mother, she could at the very least say that she had a true childhood, Ava couldn't. Ava's transformation into Persephone and her subsequent rise to power was a calling card to all the legacy children, that their parents would do whatever was necessary to make them weapons, to USE them for whatever they deemed necessary. As Erika tried to explain the medical terminology, she couldn't help but to notice the anguish in Ava's eyes. Part of the deal was that merging with Persephone had left her barren. And as a magick user, Erika knew that even if it were possible for her to conceive, it was highly unlikely that a child could survive with the amount of energy that burned within Ava because of Persephone.

For Erika, the experience made her never want children. She knew what she was capable of, and she knew that eventually, she would look at whatever child she conceived as a means to an end, as a tool to be used, and she couldn't stomach ever doing to a child what their parents had done to them. But she could sense in Ava that normalcy, that monogamy, that all the things that made one human were things that Ava clung to, sought out even though she also simultaneously fought against them. That was the Stavros in her.

"I told him he needs to talk to Haleigh, but as you can see...Haleigh's not making it any easier."

Ava: "Are you surprised?"

"Not really."

Ava: "Haleigh does what she wants, when she wants, FUCK everyone else and their feelings. She has her cake and gets to eat it too, all the while standing in the rubble of the empire we built."

Truer words had never been spoken, at least to Erika. She had never liked Haleigh for her brother. Haleigh always had a way with men, and Erika never knew if it was intentional or not, all she knew was that in fifteen minutes flat, Haleigh could likely erect an army of men who loved her and would kill for her at the slightest suggestion. And her brother was a power player. Haleigh would have done fine on her own, but her relationship with Cameron gave the suggestion that Haleigh was capable of loyalty, of true love. And he backed her impulsiveness, all of which culminated in The White Queen somehow able to cause such a disaster while sitting pretty with her feet in rose water. But that was personal, and she had to separate if she wanted to survive Hellfire. She felt for Ava, but there wasn't time to really explore that. SOMETHING had to be done.

"So who wants to make the first move?"

Ava: "I'm not doing a damn thing. Between your mother and my father? This night went to utter HELL. And this into the mix? And it's the fucking cherry on top of a SHIT evening. I haven't got the energy to deal with this right now. To even...THINK about how the Inner Circle is going to come out of this situation unscathed. Your King and Queen just blew up our legacy and now you're asking ME to help piece it back together?"

Erika remained silent. What did Ava really expect? This was Hellfire, and though the rebellion had unified them, it didn't negate the traces of the former regime creeping up within them. They couldn't just talk the talk anymore, they had to walk the walk. So yes, Erika DID expect Ava to help because historically, her brother had always helped Ava. The two had worked together for years on The Black Court, and he had clung to her side more so than he had to his mother or sisters over the years. He needed her. And she knew that Ava would realize this.

Ava: "Fine. Here's a move."

The Black Queen blew past Erika and made her way over towards the booth where Cameron was sitting, and although she couldn't hear what was being said, it was clear that Ava was not about to take any of her brother's shit. She watched as Ava exploded and then left, dissappearing into the distance. Erika exhaled deeply before turning to The Black King. Erika was not necessarily a sentimental woman, and she couldn't be sure that she wouldn't want to eat Ava's face tomorrow, but now, being in such a close setting with her, she began to feel nostalgic, and worse, she began to feel bad. She gave a serious look to The Black King, gripping his forearm.

"I get it. This is shitty. It's my King and Queen making a mess of things. But can you do me favor?"

She downed the rest of her hemlock.

"We all went through shit...growing up here, but Ava's was particularly bad. None of us talk about it, but what she went through? It kind of defined a lot of us..or at least it did me. I only told her because she's the only person that can get through to Cameron, and she NEEDS to get through him. Maybe that's not fair..but it's reality. Can you please..just go to her, ask the DJ to play her favorite song...and dance with her? Give her a moment..of happiness..."

[sighing]

"And give all of us a reason to believe that we can fall in love and not have it end in complete disaster. This is your event, John. And we've spent too much time monopolizing it. She needs a moment...so give her one."

Erika smiled warmly.

"I'm probably not the best ally to have..but I ask that in the days to come, you might not discount me as quickly as others might. I'm a mess, but when I get it right? Well..I think I really get it right."

He looked at Ava and then her brother, and thought of the million things that were in front of her in the days to come, but she wasn't afraid. Okay, she was a bit afraid. She knew that tomorrow she might wake up and want to kill them all, but that made tonight all the more important.

Hellfire -- The Drawing Room

Haleigh was a bit surprised by Alek’s reaction. She questioned him, if he was angry (like Cameron) or freaked out (like her), but he was elated. He stood up, wrapping her in the strength and safety of his arms, and told her that there was no one else he’d rather have a child with than his best friend. A small smile returned to her lips.

“You ought to look for better friends, if I’m the best you’ve got....”

Considering this miscalculation was likely to get them both killed. But he didn’t seemed concerned about the consequences at all, because to him it was a miracle, and he was awed by the fact that there were two in there, which he deemed good because then they’d always have each other. It was so endearing she forgot to be worried for a moment. She stroked his beard, and kissed him again. Then she told him that Cameron was pissed, and mentioned the huge fight from earlier, though she didn’t say that they’d been fighting about him. She shared just two of what seemed like a million horrible things Cameron could try to do.

Alek: If he could do that to you, he can’t love you at all.

He told her, his hand in her hair.

“I don’t know if he does anymore....”

She said quietly, hugging closer to him, her cheek pressed against his chest so he couldn’t see the pain in her eyes. All this because she’d wanted to make her husband happy. She hated Kelly for even presenting this poisoned apple possibility to begin with. Everything had been fantastic before. If anyone ought to die for this disastrous outcome, it should be Kelly. Clearly she fucked up the experiment.

Alek: We should get you away from here. Somewhere he can't find you. At least until the babies are born...

That snapped her out of it. Haleigh shifted to look up at him again, a flash of stubborn defiance.

“I’m not running away! I’m the White fucking Queen of Hellfire and the crown jewel of Mystech. We just..... need a plan of action.”

Alek: I'll kill him if he hurts you or your children. I swear I will.

He said, after kissing her forehead. She sighed heavily. She still loved Cameron, even if he fell prey to the hereditary insanity of the King bloodline and went the destructive route.

“I don’t want that either...”

She replied, but she knew she might not be left with a choice.

“But if it comes down to self defense..... we’ll do what we have to.”

She said, with a hard edge in her tone. She was starting to feel a little less vulnerable, a little more like she could handle this, adapt to it, figure it out. She still had no idea how to deal with Cameron, but at least she knew that she had Alek on her side. And earlier, John had promised his and Ava’s support.

She looked back up at Alek, at this man who’d dropped everything he was doing to listen and comfort her, who vowed to protect her and the babies (not just his), and didn’t seem to be at all concerned with his own safety or how this was going to affect and inconvenience him.

“I love you.”

She said, this time on purpose. There was no denying it now, and she realized it was one of the things that set Cameron off, that he’d picked up on it before, when she still ignored the feelings. Not that it excused his behavior, but it did offer an explanation for his jealousy. And she remembered he’d been similarly jealous of Zach for a while too, before they were married.

Still, how could he be so unreasonable about her developing feelings, when he himself was borderline obsessed with Heidi, and ran to Ash or Ava to talk about his problems, even kicking Haleigh out of the room to get Ava’s advice? Did he think he had the right to care about and bond with other women, while it was a grave offense for her to do the same with other men? Whatever he thought, she knew they were going to fight about it again, and the very thought exhausted her mentally.

“Maybe I shouldn’t go back to my suite tonight.... or the White Wing..... Or the Gala.....”

She suggested with a contemplative tone. She needed time to sort out how she felt about all of this, and to recharge, to deal with the shock and the uncertainty. The last thing she needed was another blowout fight, or to have to pretend to be present and socialize with people who may or may not have been currently considering joining her husband’s cause. She didn’t have the patience for any of it, and it was much nicer in Alek’s arms.

The Drawing Room

She seemed to think he should be upset, or freaking out, but he told her he couldn't have asked for anything better than his best friend to be having his baby. And he meant it.

Haleigh: “You ought to look for better friends, if I’m the best you’ve got....”

He shook his head, dismissing that comment.

"I wouldn't change it for the wide world."

He smiled lovingly down at her.

"Who else can I smoke and drink and fight with, strategize with, and then..."

He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, pulling back after with a small smile on his lips. Her hands stroked his beard, and when he marveled that there were two babies now, she kissed him again. She talked about what Cameron might do to her, to them, to their child. It was unthinkable, that a man who called himself Haleigh's husband could ever harm her, or her child. He told her Cameron couldn't possibly love her if he would do something like that to her.

Haleigh: “I don’t know if he does anymore....”

She was pressed against his chest, her arms around him. It was a perfect moment. One that he intended to continue. So he told her they needed to get her somewhere safe. He could go with her, or not, whatever she wanted. Whatever would protect her more. She looked up at him with that look she got when she wasn't going to let anyone fuck with her, a look he loved seeing on her.

Haleigh: “I’m not running away! I’m the White fucking Queen of Hellfire and the crown jewel of Mystech. We just.....need a plan of action.”

Killing Cameron seemed like a pretty damn good plan, and then she and her children would be safe.

Haleigh: “I don’t want that either...”

That was like a stab in the heart. That she still cared about a man who she was afraid would kill her child while still in her womb.

Haleigh: “But if it comes down to self defense..... we’ll do what we have to.”

He nodded, fingers tracing a pattern down her cheek. That was one thing he could generally count on with Haleigh: practicality.

Haleigh: “I love you.”

He smiled, looking down into her eyes, his heart swelling. But then his face fell, and he glanced away.

"I know, I know. You didn't really mean it..."

When his eyes found her again, because he couldn't keep them away, she was looking at him in such a way...He would do whatever it took to make sure Cameron didn't hurt her. Even if she never forgave him afterward. And, he supposed, this might be his last chance to tell her the truth, so he took it.

"I love you Haleigh. You and our child. More than anything. More than I ever have anything in my life. And I always will, no matter what."

Haleigh: “Maybe I shouldn’t go back to my suite tonight.... or the White Wing..... Or the Gala.....”

He nodded again, rubbing her back gently.

"That would probably be safer. You can stay in my suite."

He looked into her eyes.

"Or with Ashley. Or a guest room in the Red Wing. Wherever you'll be comfortable. We'll protect you."

The Black Gala

He kept listening to Daniel & Archer as Ava took his arm and moved him away from Erika, who he noticed had appeared next to her. Ava didn't seem to be worried that Daniel had just fought Archer Fairchild and won. Steel, himself, was just impressed. And a little amused. Though he knew he needed to consider the actual implications of what had just happened, how it was about to affect their court and club.

Ava: "It seems our court is the only one that's going to be left afloat if we don't get this Cameron situation under control."

"Well, I did always think the title of Lord Imperial would look good on you..."

He smiled, but knew she was serious. He realized, sadly, that he wasn't sure the other Kings would have said that jokingly. She walked with him back to speak to Erika, who was waiting nearby. Ava asked her, basically, what the hell was going on, because Cameron was acting like a psycho.

Erika: "I don't really know how to put this delicately or cleverly..but it appears Haleigh, in true Haleigh fashion isn't just pregnant with Cameron's baby..she's pregnant with Alek's as well.."

John's eyes widened to saucer size at that.

"So that's what she meant..."

He didn't say it to anyone in particular, but then he turned to look at Ava and gauge her reaction to this news, while Erika tried to explain it. Most of which he didn't understand or really care to. But it now was clear why Haleigh thought she was going to need their protection. Ava looked very pale, and her grip on his arm slackened. He moved his arm to slip it around her waste and bolster her up.

Erika: "He says if he gets rid of Alek, Haleigh will hate him..if he does nothing, the entire Inner Circle is going to look at him like he's...well a pussy, letting some other man have a baby with his wife while pretending it doesn't bother him."

This was asinine. He shook his head, still looking at Ava.

"They won't see him as a pussy, they'll see him as a child murdering psycho."

He turned his head so he was looking solemnly at both women.

"Haleigh is afraid Cameron will harm her babies."

Erika: "I told him he needs to talk to Haleigh, but as you can see...Haleigh's not making it any easier. I get that she wants to protect Alek, and that it looks like Cameron is about to kill him, but come on - she's definitely not making this any easier on herself."

"So what you're saying is she should let Cameron kill Alek, and rip apart everything we did by killing Diana and Helena."

Ava's response was harder, and much less sympathetic towards Haleigh. Maybe he shouldn't have promised Haleigh both of their support. He could tell she was about to explode, and he needed to get her out of her so she could calm down.

Ava: "Haleigh does what she wants, when she wants, FUCK everyone else and their feelings. She has her cake and gets to eat it too, all while standing in the rubble of the empire we built."

Cameron had allowed his wife to fuck other men for years - not only allowed but encouraged - and he chose now to have a meltdown? What, so he could punish his wife? Soothe his ego? He vocalized the thought he'd had since Cameron's tantrum had begun.

"Jesus, why can't he just tell Haleigh he doesn't want her to sleep with other men anymore? He's changing the rules with some serious consequences for the rest of us."

Erika: "We need to separate Alek and Haleigh and get her to her husband. And by the looks of it, she might have told Alek what's going on, which means he's going to be Alek and try and be some kind of Hallmark Movie Romantic Lead, or he's going to want to attack Cameron in the name of protecting his 'baby'. It's gonna be a shit show of testosterone."

Steel scoffed.

"Good luck separating those two now. The only person Alek cares about other than himself, is Haleigh. He'll never leave her alone if he thinks Cameron might hurt her. But we've got to get through to him that he can't kill Cameron, either. Because you're right, he would do it if he feels his child is threatened."

Erika: "So who wants to make the first move?"

"We need to get to Alek before Cameron does. And convince Haleigh to talk to Cameron. But I wouldn't if I were her. She knows more than anyone what he's capable of."

Ava: "I'm not doing a damn thing."

Steel looked at her incredulously, but didn't say anything. She couldn't seriously mean that, she was just angry. Erika was right: if they didn't do anything, the club would implode in a fiery explosion.

Ava: "Fine. Here's a move."

She pulled out from his arm and marched her way towards Cameron.

"Oh, fucking bloody shite."

She was giving Cameron a piece of her mind, in a way that really only Ava could. John pulled a drink off a passing tray, not cognizant of what it was, and threw the entire thing down in one gulp. And then Ava was off, a guerrilla strike if he'd ever seen one.

He started to follow, but Erika grabbed his arm.

Erika: "I get it. This is shitty. It's my King and Queen making a mess of things. But can you do me favor?"

He looked at her suspiciously. They might be allies out of necessity, but that didn't mean he trusted Erika or thought she was less crazy. He was not under the illusion that she was on his side.

Erika: "We all went through shit...growing up here, but Ava's was particularly bad.

He pulled his arm away from her, narrowing his eyes, speaking coldly.

"I know how to take care of my Queen, Erika."

He leaned closer.

"I know what she's gone through. I've been by her side for a long time."

Erika: "I'm probably not the best ally to have..but I ask that in the days to come, you might not discount me as quickly as others might. I'm a mess, but when I get it right? Well..I think I really get it right."

He released the tension in face, and simply nodded.

"Then get it right."

He turned and followed the path Ava had taken, away from the party and the people. Finally he saw her, leaning on a tree. He came up behind her, and wrapped his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder. He started to hum a slow tune, and began to sway with her, his motion small at first, then getting bigger.

"Dance with me."

He whispered it into her ear, and straightened up, turning her around to face him, still humming to her as he put his arms around her again.

Hellfire -- The White Wing

Her King emerged from his study, and she gave him a supportive smile, asking him if everything was alright. He said that it was, taking her hand and giving it a squeeze. Her smiled broadened a bit. He had a short exchange with Amanda, rebuking her a bit, and then he turned his smile back on Heidi, who was quite dazzled by it.

Cameron: Truly, Heidi...you look radiant.

“Thank you, My King. Perhaps you’d do me the honor of escorting me back to the Gala?”

She ventured, emboldened by the way he was touching her hair. He was handsome, and so powerful, she would’ve been proud to have been seen on his arm. And why not? The Red Queen showed her Knight such favor, Heidi saw no reason Cameron couldn’t do the same with his Knight. But he denied her that, in favor of attending to pressing matters. She nodded with slightly disappointed understanding.

“Yes, of course. Duty calls. What would you have of me?”

She asked, and he tasked her with clearing the upper levels to ensure his mother hadn’t done any damage on the way out. She accepted the order complaisantly. He suggested that afterward she get Jack to dance with her. Jack, who was a little too serious to have fun with something like dancing. But still she smiled coyly, because Cameron offered to dance with her himself.

“I’ll be looking forward to it, My King.”

She said, and then she watched him walk off, a little smitten. Amanda waved her phone around, calling Heidi’s attention to the alarm. A fire in the old War Room. Amanda suggested they get to it, and Heidi agreed.

Amanda gained them access to the room, and then Heidi started blasting the fire with water. It appeared the start of it was the old wooden conference table, that was piled up with torn books and quite heavily burned, but the fire had jumped to the chairs and the drapes as well, so for a few moments she was occupied with putting the flames out in all their various places.

“So, suffice it to say that argument ended on not so good terms.”

Hellfire -- The Black Wing

Zach was trying to explain to Gia that he’d not meant to offend Bretta, and was only trying to be helpful when he suggested that she might be getting less attention from the Court leaders because she hadn’t brought her King with her. Gia insisted that Bretta still should have been respected, and Zach scoffed a laugh at the nerve of this girl trying to lecture HIM about respect, when she was so normally insolent herself.

“I DID treat her with respect.”

He shot back defensively, and then he stated the obvious, that Bretta had misunderstood him. He also told her that Haleigh and Cameron already knew about the incident, so he wasn’t sure how much help she’d be. Although if she thought she could talk to Bretta.... then again, she’d already rubbed Bretta the wrong way this morning at breakfast. Gia didn’t seem concerned about Bretta thinking her brash. She mentioned that her and Bretta had gone riding together and apparently kissed and made up.

“Oh, well that’s nice then.”

Zach replied, as he thought about what that might look like, Bretta and Gia kissing, but his fantasy was interrupted by Cameron storming by. He was a roil of emotions, and his intrusion into Haleigh’s meeting with Ava and John triggered a serious of emotional responses that commanded Zach’s attention. Within seconds Haleigh and John were coming down the hall. Zach shot out of the alcove with deep concern.

“Haleigh?!”

Haleigh lied when she said she was fine, and instructed him to stay with Cameron. He felt uneasy about it, but he retreated back into the alcove and waited, as she’d asked. Cameron was out just a couple of minutes later, and stalked past again, so consumed with himself that he didn’t notice Zach or Gia at all.

That was pretty much par for the course, so Zach shrugged to Gia and followed the King, although the more of a feel that Zach got for Cameron’s emotional state, the more concerned he became. It was especially alarming when they arrived back at the Gala, and Zach caught Haleigh staring at Cameron worriedly as she rushed Alek out of conservatory. Weird, but it wasn’t really his business unless they involved him specifically, so he shifted his attention to Cameron, who was headed over to Ash and the others on the dance floor. Erika swooped in and drug Cameron away, taking him to a booth and doing some kind of blocking magic.

Zach looked out among the rest of the party, spotting Ava and John talking to Brienne, who flirted a bit with John before walking off annoyed. It really was too bad he’d had to take sides earlier. Maybe he should apologize to Brienne for it. Erika had been so adamant that he try to recover an alliance with the European Black Queen. If Alek was off with Haleigh, now was his chance.

“Gia, stay with the King until Heidi gets back.”

He said, as he started to head towards Brienne. She turned and headed for the dance floor, and Zach got a little excited that he might get to dance with her, but then left the party without ceremony. Zach, undeterred, followed her out. For half a second he felt a bit like a creeper, but she had to know he was behind her. She wasn’t acknowledging him, but he wasn’t being sneaky either as he shuffled to catch up with her. She left the door open to her suite, as if inviting him in, and started throwing her clothes into her suitcase. Zach quickly raked his hair into place with his fingers before breaking the silence.

“Leaving so soon? You’ll miss Sunday Brunch, and the Red Party too. Not to mention I’ll be robbed of the pleasure of admiring your beauty.”

There was banter between Ashley and Juliette, but Savage hardly paid it much attention. He was too busy focusing on the way her body felt against his, and how he could taste the salt on her skin when he kissed her neck. When she laughed, he lifted his head, wondering what she'd found funny, wanting to share in the humor.

Ash: Of course, every man wants to be with two women, but ask a man to share with another man? You'd think we were asking them to become eunuchs.

Liam: I know right? Men. Such hypocrites."

The European White King said with a smirk, but AJ made a gruff noise.

"No, my Queen, men are driven by the instinct to fight the competition for our mates. We are hardwired not to share. Not just human males, that is pure animal instinct, across all species."

He told her, his hands sliding along her body reverently. It was getting hot in here, hot enough to work up a sweat, but AJ was enjoying himself too much to complain. It wasn't long before his Queen declared she'd had enough dancing, and she bid everyone goodbye as she pulled him towards the exit. The way she kept looking at him stirred his blood, and he was all too happy to be headed back to her room now. She told him to call up the kitchen and order what he wanted.

He nodded, and reached into his pocket for his phone, as using it to make calls was one of the very few functions he knew how to do. Only problem was, his phone wasn't in his pocket. This was pretty typical for him though. He often set it down and left it somewhere, forgotten, unimportant as it was. He told one of the Red Guards to have several pizzas, one of each of the different recipes, sent to the Queen's chambers.

When they reached her suite she shed her dress right away, turning to face him. He reached for her, his fingertips grazing her breasts before she pushed his vest off his shoulders and pulled his shirt over his head. She left him standing there with his dick pulsing, and he wasted no time kicking off his boots and dropping his pants. She came back to him with a beer, which she was holding to her neck to enjoy the coolness of it. The sight of her made him instantly hard. She took a drink and offered it to him. He took a long drink, and then an idea dawned on his expression.

"My Ashley is hot? I will cool you down."

He said, scooping her up and carrying her back into the kitchen. He set her on the cool marble counter-top next to the fridge, and handed the beer to her before he opened the freezer and stuck his hand into the ice box. Such a marvelous invention, the freezer. He withdrew a cube of ice, with a suggestive smile, and began to drag it along her skin, over her shoulder and across her collar bones. It melted quickly as he criss-crossed it over her chest, each pass getting lower and closer to her nipples.

Ashley teased Liam about his aversion to joining in a threesome with his Queen and the White King, when he (and straight men in general) had no problem being with two women at once.

Savage: "No, my Queen, men are driven by the instinct to fight the competition for our mates. We are hardwired not to share. Not just human males, that is pure animal instinct, across all species."

"Animal instinct, eh?"

She slid her hands over the muscles of his arms, inclining her head so her hair fell damply to one side. She arched an eyebrow. Had he and Jack been watching the Discovery Channel again? She would have to remember to send her Bishop a thank you present.

"I like it when you start talking about mating."

She didn't last much longer, saying her goodbyes and then pulling him back towards her suite. She couldn't think of anything closer to Valhalla than being alone with beer, pizza and Savage. She had promised him an entire night with no clothes, and she made good on her promise as soon as they were inside, slipping off her dress and helping him off with his shirt. She fetched a beer for him, pressing the cold glass to her neck before taking a drink and then offering it over to him. She could tell he liked what he saw, and she watched him take a long pull on the beer with anticipation.

Savage: "My Ashley is hot? I will cool you down."

She laughed as he picked her up. Her lips played over the skin of his neck. He smelled so good. Like...man.

"I am pretty sure anything you do from now on will only make me hotter."

She was excited to see what was going through his mind, though. He was bringing her into the kitchen, and set her down on the counter. He handed her the beer and she took another drink of it, watching him curiously. He opened the freezer, and at first, she thought this was going to be one of his literal moments. But no, he took out an ice cube and started to run it over her skin, making her shiver. And not from the cold. She licked her lips, her eyes zeroed in on him like a heat seeking missile.

"What if I get too cold...then will you keep me warm?"

She moved her knees a little more apart, her legs dangling off the counter. Her feet started running slowly up and down the backs of his legs, while she fixed him with a sultry stare. She finished the rest of the beer and set the bottle down next to her before inclining her head.

"What you were saying before...about men not wanting to share their mates."

Her feet found his buttocks, her legs now wide.

"What do the females want?"

She used her feet to pull him towards her.

"And what if I don't want to share? What does that make me?"

She looped her arms around his neck, her breath rapid as she felt him hard against her. This was perfect, nothing and no one could touch them here. After a humiliating afternoon, she had been able to have fun with Savage at the party, and now they were together, and the rest of the world had disappeared.
